| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Karla Garza of VMK Concrete has distinguished |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Garza and her husband, Victor, established VMK |

| 10 | 11 | | Concrete in 2023, and under their able leadership, the business has |

| 11 | 12 | | grown to become a successful ready-mix concrete supplier in the Rio |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Grande Valley; today, VMK companies encompass five enterprises and |

| 13 | 14 | | 100 employees; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, A pioneering figure in the concrete industry, |

| 15 | 16 | | Mrs. Garza was elected to the Texas Aggregates & Concrete |

| 16 | 17 | | Association board of directors in 2024, and she has been nominated |

| 17 | 18 | | to the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association board, becoming |

| 18 | 19 | | the first Hispanic woman to realize those accomplishments; in |

| 19 | 20 | | addition, she has served as director of suppliers for the Rio Grande |

| 20 | 21 | | Valley Chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America; |

| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Garza has been involved in numerous community |

| 23 | 24 | | projects, including mentorship programs for young women pursuing |

| 24 | 25 | | careers in construction; she has also played an instrumental role |

| 25 | 26 | | in establishing the VMK Concrete scholarship initiatives, which |

| 26 | 27 | | support students in high school and college; and |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, In recognition of her efforts, Mrs. Garza was named |

| 28 | 29 | | the Architecture/Engineering/Construction Woman of the Year at the |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | 2024 Luna Awards ceremony hosted by the Regional Hispanic |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | Contractors Association; she is a first-generation college |

| 31 | 32 | | graduate and an alumna of the Texas A&M University Mays Business |

| 33 | 34 | | WHEREAS, Karla Garza has set an inspiring example of |

| 34 | 35 | | leadership in her field and in her community, and the citizens of |

| 35 | 36 | | the Rio Grande Valley are indeed fortunate to count her among their |
