7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |

8 | 9 | | passing of Anthony Dale Dunn of Killeen on January 1, 2025, at the |

10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, The son of Jack Dunn and Marie Dunn Pyburn, Tony Dunn |

11 | 12 | | was born in Belton on September 29, 1948, and he grew up with the |
---|
12 | 13 | | companionship of two siblings, Cheryle and Jackie; after graduating |
---|
13 | 14 | | from Killeen High School in 1967, he earned a bachelor's degree in |
---|
14 | 15 | | health and sports medicine from Howard Payne University; and |
---|
15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, In May 1970, Mr. Dunn married the love of his life, |
---|
16 | 17 | | the former Karen Yarnell, and the couple went on to share a |
---|
17 | 18 | | rewarding union that spanned more than half a century; they were |
---|
18 | 19 | | blessed with two children, Dawn and Toby, and with the passing |
---|
19 | 20 | | years, their treasured family grew to include four grandchildren, |
---|
20 | 21 | | Hallie, Jesica, Kaitlyn, and Andrew; and |
---|
21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Dunn embarked on his career as head athletic |
---|
22 | 23 | | trainer at Snyder High School in 1971, and in 1977, he moved back to |
---|
23 | 24 | | Killeen to operate Shine and Dunn Tire Service alongside his |
---|
24 | 25 | | father; he eventually returned to education as head athletic |
---|
25 | 26 | | trainer at Ellison High School in the Killeen Independent School |
---|
26 | 27 | | District, and he retired in 2010 after three decades of |
---|
27 | 28 | | distinguished service; following his retirement, he began working |
---|
28 | 29 | | at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home; and |
---|
29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Active in his community, Mr. Dunn gave generously of |
---|
30 | 31 | | his time and talents to a number of organizations over the years, |
---|
31 | 32 | | including the Killeen Junior Livestock Association and the American |
---|
32 | 33 | | Red Cross, and he served in the Killeen Volunteer Fire Department |
---|
33 | 34 | | for more than two decades, rising to the rank of lieutenant; |
---|
34 | 35 | | moreover, he was a valued member of First Baptist Church Killeen, |
---|
35 | 36 | | where he served as a deacon and as a member of numerous committees; |
---|
36 | 37 | | among his many accolades, he was named Killeen VFD Fire Fighter of |
---|
37 | 38 | | the Year in 1983 and was inducted as the 2018 Comanche Gap Medicine |
---|
38 | 39 | | Man; and |
---|
39 | 40 | | WHEREAS, Deeply dedicated to his family, his faith, and his |
---|
40 | 41 | | community, Tony Dunn earned the lasting respect and admiration of |
---|
41 | 42 | | all who were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it |
---|
42 | 43 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
---|
43 | 44 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Anthony Dale Dunn and |
---|
44 | 45 | | extend sincere condolences to his loved ones; and, be it further |

45 | 46 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

46 | 47 | | prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |

47 | 48 | | Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Tony Dunn. |
