67 R E S O L U T I O N
78 WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
89 passing of Anthony Dale Dunn of Killeen on January 1, 2025, at the
910 age of 76; and
1011 WHEREAS, The son of Jack Dunn and Marie Dunn Pyburn, Tony Dunn
1112 was born in Belton on September 29, 1948, and he grew up with the
1213 companionship of two siblings, Cheryle and Jackie; after graduating
1314 from Killeen High School in 1967, he earned a bachelor's degree in
1415 health and sports medicine from Howard Payne University; and
1516 WHEREAS, In May 1970, Mr. Dunn married the love of his life,
1617 the former Karen Yarnell, and the couple went on to share a
1718 rewarding union that spanned more than half a century; they were
1819 blessed with two children, Dawn and Toby, and with the passing
1920 years, their treasured family grew to include four grandchildren,
2021 Hallie, Jesica, Kaitlyn, and Andrew; and
2122 WHEREAS, Mr. Dunn embarked on his career as head athletic
2223 trainer at Snyder High School in 1971, and in 1977, he moved back to
2324 Killeen to operate Shine and Dunn Tire Service alongside his
2425 father; he eventually returned to education as head athletic
2526 trainer at Ellison High School in the Killeen Independent School
2627 District, and he retired in 2010 after three decades of
2728 distinguished service; following his retirement, he began working
2829 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home; and
2930 WHEREAS, Active in his community, Mr. Dunn gave generously of
3031 his time and talents to a number of organizations over the years,
3132 including the Killeen Junior Livestock Association and the American
3233 Red Cross, and he served in the Killeen Volunteer Fire Department
3334 for more than two decades, rising to the rank of lieutenant;
3435 moreover, he was a valued member of First Baptist Church Killeen,
3536 where he served as a deacon and as a member of numerous committees;
3637 among his many accolades, he was named Killeen VFD Fire Fighter of
3738 the Year in 1983 and was inducted as the 2018 Comanche Gap Medicine
3839 Man; and
3940 WHEREAS, Deeply dedicated to his family, his faith, and his
4041 community, Tony Dunn earned the lasting respect and admiration of
4142 all who were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it
4243 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
4344 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Anthony Dale Dunn and
4445 extend sincere condolences to his loved ones; and, be it further
4546 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4647 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4748 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Tony Dunn.
