| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Juvenile justice professionals are gathering in |

| 8 | 9 | | Austin on April 16, 2025, for Texas Juvenile Justice Professional |

| 9 | 10 | | Day at the State Capitol; and |

| 10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, One of the most advanced juvenile justice systems in |

| 11 | 12 | | the nation, the Texas network is composed of 164 community-based |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | probation departments, which serve youth and families in all 254 |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | counties of the Lone Star State in partnership with the Texas |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Juvenile Justice Department; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The juvenile probation departments handle 100 |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | percent of the referrals of young people to the juvenile justice |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | system each year through the efforts of more than 8,200 certified |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | juvenile probation and supervision officers, and departments |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | continue to provide services at the local level to 99 percent of |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | those referrals; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Every day, the dedicated men and women of the |

| 22 | 23 | | juvenile justice system make a positive difference in the lives of |

| 23 | 24 | | young Texans, helping them to embark on a better path, and in so |

| 24 | 25 | | doing, they contribute to both the strength of their families and |

| 25 | 26 | | the safety of our communities; now, therefore, be it |

| 26 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |

| 27 | 28 | | Legislature hereby recognize April 16, 2025, as Texas Juvenile |
