| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Endometriosis Awareness Month is being observed in |

| 8 | 9 | | March 2025, providing a fitting opportunity to rally support for |

| 9 | 10 | | girls and women who have been diagnosed with this condition and to |

| 10 | 11 | | honor the many health care practitioners and scientists who are |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | working to provide treatment and search for a cure; and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, This chronic disease occurs when the endometrium, a |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | type of tissue that lines the inside of the uterus, grows in other |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | places in the body; symptoms may include severe pain, swelling, |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | bleeding, and digestive problems; in addition, 40 percent of women |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | living with endometriosis have some form of infertility; patients |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | are also at greater risk for cancer as well as autoimmune, allergic, |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | and heart diseases; and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, One of the most common gynecological diseases, |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | endometriosis impacts approximately 10 percent of reproductive-age |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | girls and women worldwide; the disease is often misidentified, and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | many patients wait up to 10 years to receive a proper diagnosis; |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | while there is currently no cure for the disease, treatments are |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | available to alleviate symptoms; and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, In 1993, the Endometriosis Association established |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | Endometriosis Awareness Month, which takes place in March; the |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | annual observance unites people around the world in their |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | commitment to improving outcomes for girls, women, and mothers with |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | the disease, and it spotlights the outstanding doctors, |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | researchers, and other medical professionals who have contributed |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | to this important goal; and |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | WHEREAS, Endometriosis Awareness Month serves as a means of |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | educating the public about this serious, life-changing condition |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | and promoting efforts to develop new treatments and potential |
|---|
| 35 | 36 | | cures, and all those involved in this worthwhile cause are indeed |

| 36 | 37 | | deserving of support; now, therefore, be it |

| 37 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |

| 38 | 39 | | Legislature hereby recognize March 2025 as Endometriosis Awareness |
