67 R E S O L U T I O N
78 WHEREAS, A caring and purposeful life drew to a close with the
89 passing of Janette Kathleen Davis of Galveston on January 3, 2025,
910 at the age of 60; and
1011 WHEREAS, The daughter of Cheryl Brien and William Warren, the
1112 former Jan Warren was born in Fort Worth on October 18, 1964; after
1213 graduating from Southwest High School, she earned a bachelor's
1314 degree in forest management from Stephen F. Austin State University
1415 in 1986; and
1516 WHEREAS, A dedicated environmental advocate, Ms. Davis
1617 worked for the Texas A&M Forest Service for 17 years, beginning in
1718 its oak wilt program in Granbury and later leading rural assistance
1819 programs and addressing forest policy issues at the agency's
1920 headquarters in College Station; she went on to join the U.S. Forest
2021 Service, where she eventually served as deputy regional forester
2122 for the Southern Region of State, Private, and Tribal Forestry; at
2223 the time of her passing, she was a program manager for the Wildfire
2324 Risk Reduction Infrastructure Team, a committee created to prevent
2425 and manage forest fires in the western United States; and
2526 WHEREAS, Widely respected by her colleagues, Ms. Davis was
2627 instrumental in moving the Society of American Foresters annual
2728 convention to Fort Worth; the recipient of a number of professional
2829 honors, she was especially admired for her great commitment to the
2930 preservation of woodlands and to mentorship; a devoted mother to
3031 her son, William Warren Davis, she enjoyed hosting friends and
3132 family at her home, gardening, and attending live events; her life
3233 was further enriched by the companionship of her cherished
3334 Doberman, Abba, with whom she spent many happy hours walking on the
3435 beaches of Galveston; and
3536 WHEREAS, Those who were privileged to share in this treasured
3637 woman's love and friendship will always remember her with great
3738 admiration and affection; now, therefore, be it
3839 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
3940 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Janette Kathleen
4041 Davis and extend sincere condolences to the members of her family:
4142 to her son, William Warren Davis; to her parents, Cheryl Young Brien
4243 and William Miles Warren and his wife, Sharon Giraud Warren; to her
4344 brother, William Jeffrey Warren; and to her other relatives and
4445 many friends; and, be it further
4546 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4647 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
4748 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jan Davis.
