| 8 | 9 | | Austin on April 2 and 3, 2025, to celebrate Denton County Days at |

| 10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Located in North Texas and serving as the gateway to |

| 11 | 12 | | the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Denton County was created from the |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Peters colony grant by the Texas Legislature in 1846 and named for |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | pioneer preacher, lawyer, and soldier John Bunyan Denton; the early |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | years of the county saw its emergence as an agricultural center, and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | the arrival of the railroads in the 1880s ensured that the region's |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | wheat and cotton would find distribution across the country; and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, The county has experienced remarkable growth in |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | recent years, and with a population of more than one million and an |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | estimated 90 people moving in each day, Denton is one of the |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | fastest-growing counties in the nation; it continues to expand job |

| 21 | 22 | | opportunities for its residents, maintaining a low unemployment |

| 22 | 23 | | rate, and its welcoming business climate has drawn a number of |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | corporations as well, including Sally Beauty Holdings, Target, |

| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, The city of Denton, the county seat, is home to the |

| 26 | 27 | | University of North Texas and Texas Woman's University, which were |

| 27 | 28 | | founded as Texas Normal College and Girls' Industrial College in |

| 28 | 29 | | 1890 and 1903, respectively; nearby Corinth hosts the largest |
