7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Fourth-grade students of St. Mark's School of Texas |

8 | 9 | | in Dallas are visiting the State Capitol on April 10, 2025, |

9 | 10 | | providing a fitting opportunity to recognize the school's rich |

11 | 12 | | WHEREAS, The campus traces its roots to 1906, when founder |

12 | 13 | | Menter B. Terrill and his wife, Ada, established The Terrill School |
---|
13 | 14 | | for Boys; in 1946, the campus reopened as Cathedral School for Boys, |
---|
14 | 15 | | and four years later, it merged with Texas Country Day School to |
---|
15 | 16 | | form St. Mark's, a nonsectarian, college-preparatory, independent |
---|
16 | 17 | | day school for boys in grades 1 through 12; and |
---|
17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, St. Mark's strives to provide students with |
---|
18 | 19 | | well-rounded physical, intellectual, moral, and religious training |
---|
19 | 20 | | and instruction; today, the school serves more than 900 students, |
---|
20 | 21 | | and it offers challenging programs in the sciences, arts, and |
---|
21 | 22 | | humanities, as well as a variety of opportunities for involvement |
---|
22 | 23 | | and leadership on campus; and |

23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Over the past 119 years, St. Mark's has provided |

24 | 25 | | countless young Texans a strong academic foundation on which to |

25 | 26 | | build, and the school is indeed deserving of special recognition; |

26 | 27 | | now, therefore, be it |

27 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |

28 | 29 | | Legislature hereby honor the fourth-grade students of St. Mark's |

29 | 30 | | School of Texas on the occasion of their visit to the State Capitol |

30 | 31 | | and extend to them sincere best wishes for the future. |
