67 R E S O L U T I O N
78 WHEREAS, Fourth-grade students of St. Mark's School of Texas
89 in Dallas are visiting the State Capitol on April 10, 2025,
910 providing a fitting opportunity to recognize the school's rich
1011 history; and
1112 WHEREAS, The campus traces its roots to 1906, when founder
1213 Menter B. Terrill and his wife, Ada, established The Terrill School
1314 for Boys; in 1946, the campus reopened as Cathedral School for Boys,
1415 and four years later, it merged with Texas Country Day School to
1516 form St. Mark's, a nonsectarian, college-preparatory, independent
1617 day school for boys in grades 1 through 12; and
1718 WHEREAS, St. Mark's strives to provide students with
1819 well-rounded physical, intellectual, moral, and religious training
1920 and instruction; today, the school serves more than 900 students,
2021 and it offers challenging programs in the sciences, arts, and
2122 humanities, as well as a variety of opportunities for involvement
2223 and leadership on campus; and
2324 WHEREAS, Over the past 119 years, St. Mark's has provided
2425 countless young Texans a strong academic foundation on which to
2526 build, and the school is indeed deserving of special recognition;
2627 now, therefore, be it
2728 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
2829 Legislature hereby honor the fourth-grade students of St. Mark's
2930 School of Texas on the occasion of their visit to the State Capitol
3031 and extend to them sincere best wishes for the future.
