| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Merle Truesdell of San Angelo celebrated her 100th |

| 8 | 9 | | birthday on January 2, 2025, to the great delight of her family and |

| 9 | 10 | | friends; and |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, The former Merle Murphy was born in Breckenridge in |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | 1925; she lived in Iraan in Pecos County as a teenager, and her |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | first job was working in the school cafeteria during her senior year |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | of high school; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, On June 30, 1943, this beloved woman exchanged |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | wedding vows with Tom Truesdell in Sheffield; he was drafted the |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | following year, entered the U.S. Navy, and was stationed in |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | San Diego and Oakland during World War II; Mrs. Truesdell traveled |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | by train from West Texas to visit her husband in California, and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | later in the war, she lived with her mother in Tulsa, Oklahoma; |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | there, she took tremendous pride in her contributions as a "Rosie |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | the Riveter" through her dedicated work at a bomber plant; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Merle and Tom Truesdell raised four children, Lois |

| 23 | 24 | | Nell, Thomas Lee, Mary Beth, and Lisa, and the couple shared 43 |

| 24 | 25 | | happy years together before his passing in 1986; today, |

| 25 | 26 | | Mrs. Truesdell is the matriarch of a fine family that has grown to |

| 26 | 27 | | include 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 2 |

| 27 | 28 | | great-great-grandchildren; over the years, she has instilled in her |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | children and grandchildren the enduring values of faith and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | kindness as well as a sure sense of right and wrong; her favorite |

| 30 | 31 | | hobbies have included sewing clothes and quilts, and today she |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | enjoys time spent with friends and neighbors, taking in the beauty |

| 32 | 33 | | of sunsets and sunrises; and |

| 33 | 34 | | WHEREAS, A source of wisdom and inspiration, Merle Truesdell |

| 34 | 35 | | has witnessed a panorama of change during a historic century, and |

| 35 | 36 | | her 100th birthday offers a welcome opportunity for her loved ones |

| 36 | 37 | | to acknowledge the special place she holds in their hearts; now, |
