| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | memories of George L. Cullum III, who passed away on December 8, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | 2024, at the age of 68; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, George Cullum was born on April 9, 1956, to |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Janice S. Watson and George L. Cullum Jr., and he enjoyed the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | companionship of two younger siblings, Jean Ann and Troy; he was |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | raised as a member of the Church of Christ, where he was baptized as |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | a teenager; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, After high school, Mr. Cullum pursued a career in |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | the funeral industry and graduated from mortuary school at the top |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | of his class; he served as a funeral director for more than |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | 25 years, during which time he offered comfort and support to |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | hundreds of grieving families; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, This dynamic Texan was likewise well-respected for |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | his work as a certified firearms instructor and as a Dallas County |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | reserve sheriff's deputy; he was a skilled marksman, and he was |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | sought after by many for his knowledge of firearms and gun safety; |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Cullum enjoyed the love |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | and support of his life partner of 24 years, Mary Beth Ashburn; the |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | couple shared a deep appreciation for country music and music |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | halls; Mr. Cullum was further blessed with two children, Kristin |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | and Clinton, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins and a |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | multitude of friends; and |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Admired for his good humor and cowboy charm, George |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Cullum is deeply missed, and those who were privileged to know him |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | will forever carry him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of George L. Cullum III |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | and extend sincere sympathy to his family and friends; and, be it |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | further |

| 39 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

| 40 | 40 | | prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |

| 41 | 41 | | Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of George L. |
