77 R E S O L U T I O N
88 WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their
99 memories of George L. Cullum III, who passed away on December 8,
1010 2024, at the age of 68; and
1111 WHEREAS, George Cullum was born on April 9, 1956, to
1212 Janice S. Watson and George L. Cullum Jr., and he enjoyed the
1313 companionship of two younger siblings, Jean Ann and Troy; he was
1414 raised as a member of the Church of Christ, where he was baptized as
1515 a teenager; and
1616 WHEREAS, After high school, Mr. Cullum pursued a career in
1717 the funeral industry and graduated from mortuary school at the top
1818 of his class; he served as a funeral director for more than
1919 25 years, during which time he offered comfort and support to
2020 hundreds of grieving families; and
2121 WHEREAS, This dynamic Texan was likewise well-respected for
2222 his work as a certified firearms instructor and as a Dallas County
2323 reserve sheriff's deputy; he was a skilled marksman, and he was
2424 sought after by many for his knowledge of firearms and gun safety;
2525 and
2626 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Cullum enjoyed the love
2727 and support of his life partner of 24 years, Mary Beth Ashburn; the
2828 couple shared a deep appreciation for country music and music
2929 halls; Mr. Cullum was further blessed with two children, Kristin
3030 and Clinton, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins and a
3131 multitude of friends; and
3232 WHEREAS, Admired for his good humor and cowboy charm, George
3333 Cullum is deeply missed, and those who were privileged to know him
3434 will forever carry him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
3535 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
3636 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of George L. Cullum III
3737 and extend sincere sympathy to his family and friends; and, be it
3838 further
3939 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4040 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4141 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of George L.
4242 Cullum III.
