77 R E S O L U T I O N
88 WHEREAS, The Cypress community lost a beloved resident with
99 the passing of Eugene Frank Zaboroski on February 20, 2025, at the
1010 age of 88; and
1111 WHEREAS, The son of Frank and Lilia Juergen Zaboroski, Gene
1212 Zaboroski was born in Houston on May 1, 1936, and he grew up with the
1313 companionship of two siblings, Joyce and Byron; he graduated in
1414 1954 from Cy-Fair High School, and he went on to earn a degree in
1515 agriculture from Sam Houston State Teachers College in 1959; he
1616 participated in ROTC while completing his undergraduate studies,
1717 and he served in the U.S. Army Reserve for nine years; and
1818 WHEREAS, In May 1962, Mr. Zaboroski exchanged vows with
1919 Delphine Schultz, and the couple shared a rewarding marriage that
2020 spanned more than six decades; he was the father of five daughters,
2121 Becky, Sandra, Christy, Christine, and Jennifer, and with the
2222 passing years, he saw his treasured family grow to include eight
2323 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and
2424 WHEREAS, Mr. Zaboroski devoted many years of his life to his
2525 family's business, the historic Juergen's Store & Hall, as well as
2626 to its other ventures, which included a gas station, package and
2727 hardware store, plant nursery, and dance hall; in 1966, he was
2828 elected as the Harris County justice of the peace for Precinct 6,
2929 and over the course of his tenure, he implemented programs that
3030 expanded the court's services and oversaw its move to Cypress;
3131 additionally, he served as chair of the Harris County Justices of
3232 the Peace and Constables Association and as a director of the
3333 Justices of the Peace and Constables Association of Texas; and
3434 WHEREAS, Mr. Zaboroski also gave of his time to the Cy-Fair
3535 Volunteer Fire Department, the Cy-Fair VFW Post 8905, the Cy-Fair
3636 Educational Foundation, and the Cy-Fair FFA; he was also a charter
3737 member and officer of the Rotary Club of Cypress-Fairbanks, and he
3838 was involved with the local Masons and Shriners; moreover, he was a
3939 member of the church council for Christ United Church of Cypress;
4040 and
4141 WHEREAS, In 2004, Mr. Zaboroski and his wife generously
4242 bequeathed the land containing their family's general store to
4343 Harris County; one of the area's original settlements, the property
4444 was redeveloped into the Cypress Top Historic Park, where public
4545 tours are now conducted to educate residents and visitors alike on
4646 life in historic Cypress; and
4747 WHEREAS, Gene Zaboroski lived a life that was rich in family,
4848 friends, and community service, and those who were privileged to
4949 share in his love and affection will forever hold him close in their
5050 hearts; now, therefore, be it
5151 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
5252 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Eugene Frank
5353 Zaboroski and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family:
5454 to his wife, Delphine Zaboroski; to his daughters, Becky Martin and
5555 her husband, Daniel, Sandra Davis and her husband, Stacy, and
5656 Christy Gonzalez and her husband, Gabe; to his grandchildren,
5757 Ashleigh Hansberger, Samantha Martin, Danielle Anderson, Tyler
5858 Martin, Cole and Emma Davis, and Zachary and Sophia Gonzalez; to his
5959 great-grandchildren, Gage and Stella Hansberger and Kennedy and
6060 Ford Anderson; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be
6161 it further
6262 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
6363 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
6464 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Gene
6565 Zaboroski.
