7	7	R E S O L U T I O N
8	8	WHEREAS, The Cypress community lost a beloved resident with
9	9	the passing of Eugene Frank Zaboroski on February 20, 2025, at the
10	10	age of 88; and
11	11	WHEREAS, The son of Frank and Lilia Juergen Zaboroski, Gene
12	12	Zaboroski was born in Houston on May 1, 1936, and he grew up with the
13	13	companionship of two siblings, Joyce and Byron; he graduated in
14	14	1954 from Cy-Fair High School, and he went on to earn a degree in
15	15	agriculture from Sam Houston State Teachers College in 1959; he
16	16	participated in ROTC while completing his undergraduate studies,
17	17	and he served in the U.S. Army Reserve for nine years; and
18	18	WHEREAS, In May 1962, Mr. Zaboroski exchanged vows with
19	19	Delphine Schultz, and the couple shared a rewarding marriage that
20	20	spanned more than six decades; he was the father of five daughters,
21	21	Becky, Sandra, Christy, Christine, and Jennifer, and with the
22	22	passing years, he saw his treasured family grow to include eight
23	23	grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and
24	24	WHEREAS, Mr. Zaboroski devoted many years of his life to his
25	25	family's business, the historic Juergen's Store & Hall, as well as
26	26	to its other ventures, which included a gas station, package and
27	27	hardware store, plant nursery, and dance hall; in 1966, he was
28	28	elected as the Harris County justice of the peace for Precinct 6,
29	29	and over the course of his tenure, he implemented programs that
30	30	expanded the court's services and oversaw its move to Cypress;
31	31	additionally, he served as chair of the Harris County Justices of
32	32	the Peace and Constables Association and as a director of the
33	33	Justices of the Peace and Constables Association of Texas; and
34	34	WHEREAS, Mr. Zaboroski also gave of his time to the Cy-Fair
35	35	Volunteer Fire Department, the Cy-Fair VFW Post 8905, the Cy-Fair
36	36	Educational Foundation, and the Cy-Fair FFA; he was also a charter
37	37	member and officer of the Rotary Club of Cypress-Fairbanks, and he
38	38	was involved with the local Masons and Shriners; moreover, he was a
39	39	member of the church council for Christ United Church of Cypress;
40	40	and
41	41	WHEREAS, In 2004, Mr. Zaboroski and his wife generously
42	42	bequeathed the land containing their family's general store to
43	43	Harris County; one of the area's original settlements, the property
44	44	was redeveloped into the Cypress Top Historic Park, where public
45	45	tours are now conducted to educate residents and visitors alike on
46	46	life in historic Cypress; and
47	47	WHEREAS, Gene Zaboroski lived a life that was rich in family,
48	48	friends, and community service, and those who were privileged to
49	49	share in his love and affection will forever hold him close in their
50	50	hearts; now, therefore, be it
51	51	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
52	52	Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Eugene Frank
53	53	Zaboroski and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family:
54	54	to his wife, Delphine Zaboroski; to his daughters, Becky Martin and
55	55	her husband, Daniel, Sandra Davis and her husband, Stacy, and
56	56	Christy Gonzalez and her husband, Gabe; to his grandchildren,
57	57	Ashleigh Hansberger, Samantha Martin, Danielle Anderson, Tyler
58	58	Martin, Cole and Emma Davis, and Zachary and Sophia Gonzalez; to his
59	59	great-grandchildren, Gage and Stella Hansberger and Kennedy and
60	60	Ford Anderson; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be
61	61	it further
62	62	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
63	63	prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
64	64	Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Gene
65	65	Zaboroski.
