| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Juan Carlos Huerta was named a recipient of the |

| 9 | 10 | | recognition of his 30 years of exemplary service to the System and |

| 10 | 11 | | Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi; and |

| 11 | 12 | | WHEREAS, The TAMU System's highest faculty honor, this |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | designation acknowledges outstanding contributions to teaching, |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | research, and service; as a professor of political science at |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | TAMU-Corpus Christi, Dr. Huerta has demonstrated an exceptional |

| 15 | 16 | | commitment to his discipline and to student success, particularly |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | among first-year and first-generation scholars; he strives to |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | empower students who need extra encouragement, and his classes are |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | popular with majors and non-majors alike; and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Huerta joined the TAMU-CC faculty in 1995, and |

| 20 | 21 | | he has focused his research on public opinion, Texas politics, and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Latino politics; long at the forefront of inquiry on Latino |

| 22 | 23 | | identity in political science, including motivations for party |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | affiliation and attitudes about public policy, he is currently |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | involved in grant-funded research on the topic; moreover, he |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | coauthored the last several editions of a popular textbook, |

| 26 | 27 | | Practicing Texas Politics, and he has written a number of book |

| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, In 2015, Dr. Huerta helped establish the National |

| 29 | 30 | | Learning Communities Association, and he served as founding |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | president; he has further served his profession as vice president |

| 31 | 32 | | of the American Political Science Association and president of the |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | Southwestern Political Science Association; in 2024, the Political |

| 33 | 34 | | Science Education Section of the APSA presented him with the |

| 34 | 35 | | Lifetime Achievement Award; he is also a recipient of the Amigo de |

| 35 | 36 | | la Isla Award from the TAMU-CC Division of Student Engagement and |
