77 R E S O L U T I O N
88 WHEREAS, The tragic passing of Molly Katherine Mullens of
99 Park Cities on March 16, 2024, at the age of nine, brought an
1010 unimaginable loss to her family and friends; and
1111 WHEREAS, The cherished daughter of Michael and Marissa
1212 Mullens, Molly Mullens was born on January 29, 2015, and she grew up
1313 with the companionship of her older brothers, Sean and Connor; she
1414 was further blessed with the affection of her grandparents, Mema
1515 and Grandpa Pat; and
1616 WHEREAS, Molly was a third grader at University Park
1717 Elementary School in the Highland Park Independent School District;
1818 an outgoing girl with an irrepressible personality, she loved
1919 school, her classmates, and her teachers, and she demonstrated her
2020 generosity and compassion by helping others feel connected and
2121 included; among her favorite activities were spending time with
2222 friends and playing with her dog, Ally, and she also enjoyed taking
2323 acting classes, playing soccer, and the color pink; she uplifted
2424 everyone around her with her warm smile and infectious laughter;
2525 and
2626 WHEREAS, On March 16, 2024, Molly lost her life in an
2727 automobile accident on U.S. 287 near Vernon; her passing inspired
2828 an outpouring of prayers, sympathy, and support from the community,
2929 and her family successfully advocated for larger concrete barriers
3030 on the highway in an effort to improve safety; proposed legislation
3131 would designate a portion of U.S. 287 in Wilbarger County as the
3232 Molly Mullens Memorial Highway; and
3333 WHEREAS, Although her time on this earth was far too brief,
3434 Molly Mullens was a ray of light in the lives of those who held her
3535 dear, and she leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, and kindness that
3636 will never be forgotten; now, therefore, be it
3737 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
3838 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Molly Katherine
3939 Mullens and extend deepest condolences to all who mourn her
4040 passing; and, be it further
4141 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4242 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
4343 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Molly
4444 Mullens.
