| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The tragic passing of Molly Katherine Mullens of |

| 9 | 9 | | Park Cities on March 16, 2024, at the age of nine, brought an |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | unimaginable loss to her family and friends; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, The cherished daughter of Michael and Marissa |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Mullens, Molly Mullens was born on January 29, 2015, and she grew up |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | with the companionship of her older brothers, Sean and Connor; she |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | was further blessed with the affection of her grandparents, Mema |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | and Grandpa Pat; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Molly was a third grader at University Park |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Elementary School in the Highland Park Independent School District; |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | an outgoing girl with an irrepressible personality, she loved |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | school, her classmates, and her teachers, and she demonstrated her |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | generosity and compassion by helping others feel connected and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | included; among her favorite activities were spending time with |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | friends and playing with her dog, Ally, and she also enjoyed taking |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | acting classes, playing soccer, and the color pink; she uplifted |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | everyone around her with her warm smile and infectious laughter; |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, On March 16, 2024, Molly lost her life in an |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | automobile accident on U.S. 287 near Vernon; her passing inspired |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | an outpouring of prayers, sympathy, and support from the community, |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | and her family successfully advocated for larger concrete barriers |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | on the highway in an effort to improve safety; proposed legislation |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | would designate a portion of U.S. 287 in Wilbarger County as the |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Molly Mullens Memorial Highway; and |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | WHEREAS, Although her time on this earth was far too brief, |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Molly Mullens was a ray of light in the lives of those who held her |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | dear, and she leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, and kindness that |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | will never be forgotten; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Molly Katherine |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | Mullens and extend deepest condolences to all who mourn her |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | passing; and, be it further |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

| 42 | 42 | | prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Molly |
