| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is pleased to |

| 9 | 9 | | recognize the state's county treasurers and to join them in |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | celebrating April 8, 2025, as Texas County Treasurers Day at the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | State Capitol; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Elected by voters for four-year terms, county |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | treasurers fulfill a range of duties as prescribed by the Texas |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Local Government Code and County Commissioners Courts; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, There are currently 244 county treasurers in Texas, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | and two-thirds serve in rural counties with fewer than 25,000 |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | residents; these dedicated public officials serve as chief |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | custodians of county finances and are tasked with receiving, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | disbursing, and providing oversight of all county funds; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, In addition to performing explicit statutory |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | duties, county treasurers serve as the chief liaison between their |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | county and depository banks, and many help to meet their county's |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | unique needs by providing versatile services; these may include |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | services in such areas as human resource administration, auditing, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | and payroll management, and county treasurers are often entrusted |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | with providing treasurer duties for various county entities; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Texas County Treasurers Day serves as an opportunity |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | for these esteemed public servants to engage with legislators, |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | advocate on behalf of their communities, and assist in the |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | legislative process by offering expertise in the fiduciary aspects |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | of county governance; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Legislature hereby recognize April 8, 2025, as Texas County |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Treasurers Day at the State Capitol and extend to the visiting |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | delegation sincere best wishes for a memorable visit to Austin. |
