8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the |

9 | 9 | | passing of John Michael Jackson of University Park on March 20, |

10 | 10 | | 2025, at the age of 80; and |
---|
11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, The son of Clyde C. Jackson and Mel Mitchell |
---|
12 | 12 | | Jackson, John Jackson was born on March 3, 1945; he attended |
---|
13 | 13 | | Highland Park High School, playing on the baseball and football |
---|
14 | 14 | | teams, and he went on to earn a bachelor's degree in business |
---|
15 | 15 | | administration with a specialization in real estate from Southern |
---|
16 | 16 | | Methodist University and a juris doctor degree from the SMU School |
---|
17 | 17 | | of Law; and |
---|
18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Jackson enjoyed a rewarding career as an |
---|
19 | 19 | | attorney and real estate broker; he held the distinction of being |
---|
20 | 20 | | among the first Dallas area Realtors to receive the certified |
---|
21 | 21 | | commercial investment member designation; one of his primary |
---|
22 | 22 | | professional interests was Snider Plaza, where he worked with |
---|
23 | 23 | | tenants and property owners; and |
---|
24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Engaged in his community, Mr. Jackson served on |
---|
25 | 25 | | several committees for the City of University Park, and he also gave |
---|
26 | 26 | | of his time and talents to benefit the Voice of Hope and the Preston |
---|
27 | 27 | | Center Rotary Club; he was a man of strong faith, and through the |
---|
28 | 28 | | years, he served as an ordained deacon at Park Cities Baptist Church |
---|
29 | 29 | | and Park Cities Presbyterian Church, and he was a member of Highland |
---|
30 | 30 | | Park United Methodist Church; and |
---|
31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Jackson enjoyed the love |
---|
32 | 32 | | and support of his wife, the former Kathy Winniford, with whom he |
---|
33 | 33 | | shared 54 years of marriage; he was the devoted father of two sons, |
---|
34 | 34 | | Winn and Paul, and he had the pleasure of welcoming into his family |
---|
35 | 35 | | eight grandchildren, Rhodes, Anderson, Greer, Ford, Rowan, Winn, |
---|
36 | 36 | | Charlotte, and Taylor; and |
---|
37 | 37 | | WHEREAS, While the passing of John Jackson brings |
---|
38 | 38 | | immeasurable sorrow to his loved ones, he leaves behind a legacy |
---|
39 | 39 | | that will long be treasured by all those who held him dear; now, |
---|
40 | 40 | | therefore, be it |

41 | 41 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |

42 | 42 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of John Michael Jackson |

43 | 43 | | and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his |

44 | 44 | | wife, Kathy Jackson; to his sons, Winn Jackson and his wife, |

45 | 45 | | Brooksie, and Paul Jackson and his wife, Melanie; to his |

46 | 46 | | grandchildren, Rhodes, Anderson, Greer, Ford, Rowan, and Winn |

47 | 47 | | Jackson and Charlotte and Taylor Lang; to his brother, Clyde |
