77 R E S O L U T I O N
88 WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the
99 passing of John Michael Jackson of University Park on March 20,
1010 2025, at the age of 80; and
1111 WHEREAS, The son of Clyde C. Jackson and Mel Mitchell
1212 Jackson, John Jackson was born on March 3, 1945; he attended
1313 Highland Park High School, playing on the baseball and football
1414 teams, and he went on to earn a bachelor's degree in business
1515 administration with a specialization in real estate from Southern
1616 Methodist University and a juris doctor degree from the SMU School
1717 of Law; and
1818 WHEREAS, Mr. Jackson enjoyed a rewarding career as an
1919 attorney and real estate broker; he held the distinction of being
2020 among the first Dallas area Realtors to receive the certified
2121 commercial investment member designation; one of his primary
2222 professional interests was Snider Plaza, where he worked with
2323 tenants and property owners; and
2424 WHEREAS, Engaged in his community, Mr. Jackson served on
2525 several committees for the City of University Park, and he also gave
2626 of his time and talents to benefit the Voice of Hope and the Preston
2727 Center Rotary Club; he was a man of strong faith, and through the
2828 years, he served as an ordained deacon at Park Cities Baptist Church
2929 and Park Cities Presbyterian Church, and he was a member of Highland
3030 Park United Methodist Church; and
3131 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Jackson enjoyed the love
3232 and support of his wife, the former Kathy Winniford, with whom he
3333 shared 54 years of marriage; he was the devoted father of two sons,
3434 Winn and Paul, and he had the pleasure of welcoming into his family
3535 eight grandchildren, Rhodes, Anderson, Greer, Ford, Rowan, Winn,
3636 Charlotte, and Taylor; and
3737 WHEREAS, While the passing of John Jackson brings
3838 immeasurable sorrow to his loved ones, he leaves behind a legacy
3939 that will long be treasured by all those who held him dear; now,
4040 therefore, be it
4141 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
4242 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of John Michael Jackson
4343 and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his
4444 wife, Kathy Jackson; to his sons, Winn Jackson and his wife,
4545 Brooksie, and Paul Jackson and his wife, Melanie; to his
4646 grandchildren, Rhodes, Anderson, Greer, Ford, Rowan, and Winn
4747 Jackson and Charlotte and Taylor Lang; to his brother, Clyde
4848 C. Jackson Jr.; to his sister-in-law, Nancy Ashby, and her husband,
4949 Ronnie; to his goddaughter, Lindsey Boston Miller; and to his other
5050 relatives and many friends; and, be it further
5151 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
5252 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
5353 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of John
5454 Jackson.
