77 R E S O L U T I O N
88 WHEREAS, Alma Perez Jackson of San Antonio, an esteemed civic
99 leader and friend to many, passed away on March 17, 2025, at the age
1010 of 71; and
1111 WHEREAS, The daughter of Victor and Juanita Perez, the former
1212 Alma Romelia Perez was born in Laredo on December 24, 1953, and she
1313 grew up in San Antonio with seven siblings, Hector, Marie,
1414 Rosalinda, Jane, Victor, Robert, and Raymond; she graduated from
1515 The University of Texas at San Antonio in 2005; and
1616 WHEREAS, Mrs. Jackson was a distinguished figure in the Texas
1717 GOP, earning a reputation for her passionate service, mentorship,
1818 and commitment to conservative principles; in 2018, she began a
1919 two-year tenure as vice chair of the Republican Party of Texas; in
2020 that role, she advocated for rebranding the GOP moniker of "Grand
2121 Old Party" to the "Greater Opportunity Party," and she traveled
2222 across the state to meet with Republican leaders; a precinct chair
2323 in her neighborhood, she served as an election judge for more than a
2424 decade, chaired the Bexar County Republican Party Precinct
2525 Organization Committee, and was a State Republican Executive
2626 Committee member for Senate District 26; she also led the Juan
2727 Seguin Society as president, taught civics classes, and served as a
2828 prayer leader in Bexar County Republican circles, and she belonged
2929 to a number of Republican women's organizations as well; in
3030 recognition of her contributions, she was honored with a Volunteer
3131 of the Year Award by the state Republican Party; and
3232 WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Mrs. Jackson enjoyed the love
3333 and support of her husband of 43 years, the late Chris Jackson; she
3434 was a devoted mother to their children, Tony, Cathy, and Kelly, and
3535 she took great pride in her 12 grandchildren; gracious, generous,
3636 and kind, she delighted in hosting events at her home; her life was
3737 further enriched by her strong faith; and
3838 WHEREAS, Deeply dedicated to her family and her community,
3939 Alma Jackson made a meaningful difference in the lives of her loved
4040 ones and fellow citizens alike, and her exceptional contributions
4141 will continue to resonate for years to come; now, therefore, be it
4242 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
4343 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Alma Perez Jackson
4444 and extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her
4545 children, Tony Castillo and his wife, Cindy, Cathy Yarbrough and
4646 her husband, Sean, and Kelly Tyson and her husband, Ryan; to her
4747 grandchildren, Ryan, Toni Rae, Joel, Sam, Arick, Kenady, Matthew,
4848 Chloe, Brenner, Kyla, Jessa, and Jonathon; to her siblings, Marie
4949 Rivas, Rosalinda Gallegos, Jane DeLeon, Victor Perez Jr., Robert
5050 Perez, and Raymond Perez; and to her many other relatives and
5151 friends; and, be it further
5252 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
5353 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
5454 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Alma
5555 Jackson.
