8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Alma Perez Jackson of San Antonio, an esteemed civic |

9 | 9 | | leader and friend to many, passed away on March 17, 2025, at the age |

10 | 10 | | of 71; and |
---|
11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Victor and Juanita Perez, the former |
---|
12 | 12 | | Alma Romelia Perez was born in Laredo on December 24, 1953, and she |
---|
13 | 13 | | grew up in San Antonio with seven siblings, Hector, Marie, |
---|
14 | 14 | | Rosalinda, Jane, Victor, Robert, and Raymond; she graduated from |
---|
15 | 15 | | The University of Texas at San Antonio in 2005; and |
---|
16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Jackson was a distinguished figure in the Texas |
---|
17 | 17 | | GOP, earning a reputation for her passionate service, mentorship, |
---|
18 | 18 | | and commitment to conservative principles; in 2018, she began a |
---|
19 | 19 | | two-year tenure as vice chair of the Republican Party of Texas; in |
---|
20 | 20 | | that role, she advocated for rebranding the GOP moniker of "Grand |
---|
21 | 21 | | Old Party" to the "Greater Opportunity Party," and she traveled |
---|
22 | 22 | | across the state to meet with Republican leaders; a precinct chair |
---|
23 | 23 | | in her neighborhood, she served as an election judge for more than a |
---|
24 | 24 | | decade, chaired the Bexar County Republican Party Precinct |
---|
25 | 25 | | Organization Committee, and was a State Republican Executive |
---|
26 | 26 | | Committee member for Senate District 26; she also led the Juan |
---|
27 | 27 | | Seguin Society as president, taught civics classes, and served as a |
---|
28 | 28 | | prayer leader in Bexar County Republican circles, and she belonged |
---|
29 | 29 | | to a number of Republican women's organizations as well; in |
---|
30 | 30 | | recognition of her contributions, she was honored with a Volunteer |
---|
31 | 31 | | of the Year Award by the state Republican Party; and |
---|
32 | 32 | | WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Mrs. Jackson enjoyed the love |
---|
33 | 33 | | and support of her husband of 43 years, the late Chris Jackson; she |
---|
34 | 34 | | was a devoted mother to their children, Tony, Cathy, and Kelly, and |
---|
35 | 35 | | she took great pride in her 12 grandchildren; gracious, generous, |
---|
36 | 36 | | and kind, she delighted in hosting events at her home; her life was |
---|
37 | 37 | | further enriched by her strong faith; and |
---|
38 | 38 | | WHEREAS, Deeply dedicated to her family and her community, |
---|
39 | 39 | | Alma Jackson made a meaningful difference in the lives of her loved |
---|
40 | 40 | | ones and fellow citizens alike, and her exceptional contributions |
---|
41 | 41 | | will continue to resonate for years to come; now, therefore, be it |
---|
42 | 42 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
---|
43 | 43 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Alma Perez Jackson |

44 | 44 | | and extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her |

45 | 45 | | children, Tony Castillo and his wife, Cindy, Cathy Yarbrough and |

46 | 46 | | her husband, Sean, and Kelly Tyson and her husband, Ryan; to her |
