| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The celebration of The University of Texas at |

| 8 | 9 | | Arlington Day at the State Capitol on April 17, 2025, provides a |

| 9 | 10 | | fitting opportunity to recognize this notable institution; and |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, UTA traces its history to 1895, when Arlington |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | College was established as a private school for area youth; the |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | campus was converted into Carlisle Military Academy in 1902 and was |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | subsequently known as Arlington Training School and then Arlington |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Military Academy; in 1917, the 35th Texas Legislature created a new |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | junior college at the site, Grubbs Vocational College, which was a |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | branch of what is now The Texas A&M University System; the campus |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | eventually became North Texas Junior Agricultural College and later |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | Arlington State College, and in 1965, it was transferred to The |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | University of Texas System; it adopted its current name in 1967; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Today, UTA is the second-largest university in the |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | UT System, boasting an enrollment of more than 41,000 students and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | offering over 180 baccalaureate, master's, and doctoral degree |

| 23 | 24 | | programs; each year, the university and its alumni contribute |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | $28.8 billion in economic impact; and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, UTA encompasses nine colleges, which provide |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | courses in such critical fields as public health, elder care, |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | nursing, construction management, big data analytics, special |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | education, and engineering; in addition, the institution promotes |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | educational and workforce development at its Fort Worth Center and |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | its Research Institute; on April 3, 2025, it commemorated the |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | groundbreaking of its new UTA West campus; and |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | WHEREAS, A world-class research university, its projects |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | contributed $59 million to the national economy in 2024; UTA has |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | been ranked as the ninth fastest-growing doctoral public |
|---|

| 41 | 42 | | WHEREAS, Over the past 130 years, The University of Texas at |
