| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Jenessa Davila of South San Antonio High School |

| 9 | 9 | | earned a gold medal at the 2025 Region 20E High School Visual Art |

| 10 | 10 | | Scholastic Event on February 22, qualifying her for the state |

| 11 | 11 | | competition; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Founded in 1994, VASE is a Texas Art Education |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Association-sponsored contest that recognizes exemplary student |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | achievement in the visual arts; each participant creates a piece, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | writes about their process in making it, and completes an interview |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | with a VASE juror, who evaluates their entry using a |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | standards-based rubric; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Davila's work, Nitpicking, is a self-portrait |

| 19 | 19 | | using various mediums, textures, and 3D features, and it explores |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | the connection between the artist's identity and her curly hair; |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | after graduation, she hopes to continue her education at The |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | University of Texas at San Antonio, where she plans to major in |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | psychology and minor in fine arts; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, This gifted young Texan has demonstrated |

| 25 | 25 | | outstanding talent, creativity, and dedication to her craft, and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | she may indeed take great pride in her exceptional showing in the |

| 27 | 27 | | VASE competition; now, therefore, be it |

| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
