| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The Ganado High School football team earned the |

| 9 | 9 | | mantle of state champion by winning the 2024 University |

| 10 | 10 | | Interscholastic League 2A Division 1 state title game; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, The Indians began their journey to the championship |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | by going 9-1 in the regular season and clinching the district title |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | with an unblemished record; next delivering a dominant performance |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | in the playoffs, they bested Skidmore-Tynan, Crawford, Refugio, and |

| 15 | 15 | | Marlin High Schools to reach the state semifinals; there, Ganado |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | dispatched Joaquin High School 35-14 to secure a coveted berth in |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | the state final; and |

| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Ganado took the field against top-ranked Stamford |

| 19 | 19 | | High School at AT&T Stadium in Arlington; the Indians held a |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | seven-point advantage at halftime and led by the same margin going |

| 21 | 21 | | into the final frame; with the game knotted at 21-all at the end of |

| 22 | 22 | | regulation, Ganado headed for overtime; a touchdown run put the |

| 23 | 23 | | Indians ahead in the first OT, and their opponent then responded |

| 24 | 24 | | with a scoring throw, tying the contest at 28-28; a scoreless second |

| 25 | 25 | | OT set the stage for an exciting finish in the third extra period to |

| 26 | 26 | | be determined by two-point conversion tries; a completed pass again |

| 27 | 27 | | put Ganado in the lead, and with the title on the line, the team |

| 28 | 28 | | intercepted a pass to seal the win; with the 30-28 victory, Ganado |

| 38 | 38 | | WHEREAS, Through countless hours of hard work and an |

| 39 | 39 | | unwavering commitment to excellence, the Ganado Indians realized |

| 40 | 40 | | their season-long goal of becoming state champions, and they will |

| 41 | 41 | | treasure the memory of this accomplishment for the rest of their |

| 43 | 43 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |

| 44 | 44 | | Legislature hereby congratulate the Ganado High School football |
