8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Chief Petty Officer Eric B. Uhr is retiring from the |

9 | 9 | | U.S. Coast Guard on August 31, 2025, drawing to a close more than |

10 | 10 | | two decades of exceptional service to his country; and |
---|
11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, A native of Seguin, Eric Uhr enlisted in the U.S. |
---|
12 | 12 | | Coast Guard in June 2005; he underwent basic military training at |
---|
13 | 13 | | Training Center Cape May in New Jersey, and he completed his first |
---|
14 | 14 | | assignment as a deck seaman aboard the USCG cutter Edisto in |
---|
15 | 15 | | California; he has since carried out a range of duties, including |
---|
16 | 16 | | serving as the executive petty officer and the officer in charge for |
---|
17 | 17 | | the Aids to Navigation Team South Padre Island, as the first |
---|
18 | 18 | | lieutenant of Station Port Aransas, and as the training team chief |
---|
19 | 19 | | for the ANT Seventeenth Coast Guard District Waterways Branch in |
---|
20 | 20 | | Alaska; in addition, he was the operations petty officer of the ANT |
---|
21 | 21 | | in Louisiana and a deck watch officer and the deck leading petty |
---|
22 | 22 | | officer for the USCG cutter Resolute in Florida; and |
---|
23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Officer Uhr graduated from the Chief Petty Officers |
---|
24 | 24 | | Academy and is an initiated member of the South Texas Chapter of the |
---|
25 | 25 | | Coast Guard Chief Petty Officers Association Chief's Mess, and he |
---|
26 | 26 | | is retiring with the title of boatswain's mate chief petty officer; |
---|
27 | 27 | | he has distinguished himself over the course of his military |
---|
28 | 28 | | tenure, receiving the Coast Guard Commendation Medal with one gold |
---|
29 | 29 | | star and an operational distinguishing device, the Coast Guard |
---|
30 | 30 | | Achievement Medal with two gold stars and an operational |
---|
31 | 31 | | distinguishing device, and the permanent Officer in Charge Ashore, |
---|
32 | 32 | | Advanced Boat Forces, and Coxswain Insignias; moreover, he has been |
---|
33 | 33 | | honored with numerous other personal, service, and team awards; and |
---|
34 | 34 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Officer Uhr enjoys the love |
---|
35 | 35 | | and support of his wife, Amber, and their two children, Kenneth and |
---|
36 | 36 | | Carlee; and |
---|
37 | 37 | | WHEREAS, Eric Uhr's dedication, professionalism, and |
---|
38 | 38 | | commitment to excellence have contributed greatly to the defense of |
---|
39 | 39 | | our nation and earned him the respect and admiration of his fellow |
---|
40 | 40 | | service members, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a career |
---|
41 | 41 | | well spent as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life; |

43 | 43 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |

44 | 44 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Chief Petty Officer Eric B. Uhr on |

45 | 45 | | his retirement from the U.S. Coast Guard and extend to him sincere |

46 | 46 | | best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
