77 R E S O L U T I O N
88 WHEREAS, Chief Petty Officer Eric B. Uhr is retiring from the
99 U.S. Coast Guard on August 31, 2025, drawing to a close more than
1010 two decades of exceptional service to his country; and
1111 WHEREAS, A native of Seguin, Eric Uhr enlisted in the U.S.
1212 Coast Guard in June 2005; he underwent basic military training at
1313 Training Center Cape May in New Jersey, and he completed his first
1414 assignment as a deck seaman aboard the USCG cutter Edisto in
1515 California; he has since carried out a range of duties, including
1616 serving as the executive petty officer and the officer in charge for
1717 the Aids to Navigation Team South Padre Island, as the first
1818 lieutenant of Station Port Aransas, and as the training team chief
1919 for the ANT Seventeenth Coast Guard District Waterways Branch in
2020 Alaska; in addition, he was the operations petty officer of the ANT
2121 in Louisiana and a deck watch officer and the deck leading petty
2222 officer for the USCG cutter Resolute in Florida; and
2323 WHEREAS, Officer Uhr graduated from the Chief Petty Officers
2424 Academy and is an initiated member of the South Texas Chapter of the
2525 Coast Guard Chief Petty Officers Association Chief's Mess, and he
2626 is retiring with the title of boatswain's mate chief petty officer;
2727 he has distinguished himself over the course of his military
2828 tenure, receiving the Coast Guard Commendation Medal with one gold
2929 star and an operational distinguishing device, the Coast Guard
3030 Achievement Medal with two gold stars and an operational
3131 distinguishing device, and the permanent Officer in Charge Ashore,
3232 Advanced Boat Forces, and Coxswain Insignias; moreover, he has been
3333 honored with numerous other personal, service, and team awards; and
3434 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Officer Uhr enjoys the love
3535 and support of his wife, Amber, and their two children, Kenneth and
3636 Carlee; and
3737 WHEREAS, Eric Uhr's dedication, professionalism, and
3838 commitment to excellence have contributed greatly to the defense of
3939 our nation and earned him the respect and admiration of his fellow
4040 service members, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a career
4141 well spent as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life;
4242 now, therefore, be it
4343 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
4444 Legislature hereby congratulate Chief Petty Officer Eric B. Uhr on
4545 his retirement from the U.S. Coast Guard and extend to him sincere
4646 best wishes for the future; and, be it further
4747 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4848 prepared for Officer Uhr as an expression of high regard by the
4949 Texas House of Representatives.
