77 R E S O L U T I O N
88 WHEREAS, Corrections Workers Day is taking place on May 6,
99 2025; and
1010 WHEREAS, Committed to protecting the safety of all Texans,
1111 highly-trained law enforcement officers maintain order in jails,
1212 prisons, and local correctional facilities while assisting adults
1313 and juveniles who are undergoing rehabilitation, and they also
1414 ensure that court orders are enforced; other employees also provide
1515 critical support within the correctional system, including
1616 administrators, chaplains, nurses, social workers, and teachers;
1717 and
1818 WHEREAS, Balancing a demanding career in an environment where
1919 the threat of violence is always present, correctional
2020 professionals endure physical and emotional demands every day;
2121 moreover, the men and women who have lost their lives in the line of
2222 duty have made the ultimate sacrifice for the safety and security of
2323 our communities; and
2424 WHEREAS, These dedicated and courageous Texans play a key
2525 role in the criminal justice system, and it is indeed fitting to
2626 recognize their service and their many contributions to society;
2727 now, therefore, be it
2828 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
2929 Legislature hereby recognize May 6, 2025, as Corrections Workers
3030 Day and commend these officers and employees for their vital work.
