| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Corrections Workers Day is taking place on May 6, |

| 9 | 9 | | 2025; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Committed to protecting the safety of all Texans, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | highly-trained law enforcement officers maintain order in jails, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | prisons, and local correctional facilities while assisting adults |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | and juveniles who are undergoing rehabilitation, and they also |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | ensure that court orders are enforced; other employees also provide |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | critical support within the correctional system, including |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | administrators, chaplains, nurses, social workers, and teachers; |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Balancing a demanding career in an environment where |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | the threat of violence is always present, correctional |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | professionals endure physical and emotional demands every day; |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | moreover, the men and women who have lost their lives in the line of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | duty have made the ultimate sacrifice for the safety and security of |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | our communities; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, These dedicated and courageous Texans play a key |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | role in the criminal justice system, and it is indeed fitting to |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | recognize their service and their many contributions to society; |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | now, therefore, be it |

| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature hereby recognize May 6, 2025, as Corrections Workers |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Day and commend these officers and employees for their vital work. |
