10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Born on August 23, 1974, to Daniel and Glenda |

11 | 12 | | Bobbitt, James Bobbitt grew up in Springtown with the companionship |

12 | 13 | | of a brother, Tommy; he worked as a volunteer firefighter in his |
---|
13 | 14 | | hometown for a decade, and he was recognized with the Rookie of the |
---|
14 | 15 | | Year award; and |
---|
15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Bobbitt went on to join the Flower Mound Fire |
---|
16 | 17 | | Department in 2007; during his 17-year tenure, he was twice named |
---|
17 | 18 | | Firefighter of the Year, and he was widely admired for his skill and |
---|
18 | 19 | | composure under pressure; over the years, he readily gave advice |
---|
19 | 20 | | and encouragement to anyone who needed it, and he served as a mentor |
---|
20 | 21 | | to many recruits; after being diagnosed with esophageal cancer, he |
---|
21 | 22 | | made it his mission to see the disease added to the state's list of |
---|
22 | 23 | | presumptive cancers for firefighters in order to ensure that others |
---|
23 | 24 | | with the condition more easily receive much-needed support; his |
---|
24 | 25 | | fellow firefighters have since taken on the cause; and |
---|
25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Bobbitt enjoyed the love |
---|
26 | 27 | | and support of his wife, Amy, and he was deeply devoted to his |
---|
27 | 28 | | daughter, Addison, and stepchildren, CJ, Rachael, Hillary, and |
---|
28 | 29 | | Justin; and |
---|
29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, James Bobbitt dedicated his life to protecting his |
---|
30 | 31 | | fellow citizens, and although he is missed, he leaves behind a |
---|
31 | 32 | | record of service that his loved ones can remember with pride; now, |
---|
32 | 33 | | therefore, be it |

33 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |

34 | 35 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of James Bobbitt and |
---|
35 | 36 | | extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family, his friends, |

36 | 37 | | and his colleagues; and, be it further |
