| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Texas EquuSearch is marking its 25th anniversary in |

| 9 | 9 | | 2025, providing a fitting opportunity to commend the organization |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | for its exceptional work; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, In August 2000, Tim Miller founded Texas EquuSearch |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | as a horse-mounted search and recovery team for the Galveston |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | County area; the nonprofit is dedicated to the memory of Mr. |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Miller's daughter, Laura Miller, who was abducted and murdered in |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Galveston County in 1984; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Headquartered near Houston in Dickinson, Texas |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | EquuSearch is a search and recovery organization that provides |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | services at the request of families and law enforcement personnel; |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Mr. Miller serves as executive director of the award-winning |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | organization, and under his guidance, thousands of volunteers have |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | assisted with some 2,800 lost and missing person and murder victim |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | cases in nearly all 50 states and in multiple countries; to date, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | more than 800 missing persons have been returned to their loved |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | ones; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, The organization's resources have evolved over |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | time, and its highly skilled searchers are now utilizing the most |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | up-to-date technologies and methodologies, including side-scan |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | sonar, ground-penetrating radar, and sophisticated mapping |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | techniques; case research begins with the review of social media |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | accounts, the collection of security footage, and the analysis of |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | cell phone data, and boats, aircraft, drones, all-terrain vehicles, |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | and K-9 teams are also employed on search and recovery missions; and |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | WHEREAS, For a quarter century, Texas EquuSearch has rendered |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | invaluable service to distraught families experiencing the trauma |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | of a missing loved one and provided closure to many criminal cases, |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | and all those associated with the nonprofit are indeed deserving of |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | special recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Texas EquuSearch on its 25th |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | anniversary and extend to the organization's staff and volunteers |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | sincere appreciation for their dedication to their important |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | mission; and, be it further |

| 43 | 43 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
