77 R E S O L U T I O N
88 WHEREAS, Jaelyn Jade Phillips of Troy High School closed out
99 her senior year of competition in triumphant fashion, winning a
1010 state title at the 2025 Texas High School Women's Powerlifting
1111 Association 3A Division 1 State Championship; and
1212 WHEREAS, Joining the other top high school lifters in Texas
1313 at the state meet in Edinburg on March 13, "Jae Jae" Phillips
1414 delivered an exceptional performance in the 165-pound weight class;
1515 she hoisted 450 pounds in the squat, 280 pounds in the bench press,
1616 and 400 pounds in the dead lift, racking up a record 1,130 total
1717 pounds to clinch the state crown; and
1818 WHEREAS, Ms. Phillips has earned three consecutive trips to
1919 the 3A Division 1 state final, collecting the bronze medal in 2023,
2020 the silver medal in 2024, and ultimately, the gold medal in 2025;
2121 earlier in the year, she secured her third regional championship,
2222 sweeping the Best Squat, Best Bench, and Best Deadlift awards as the
2323 top lifter in the heavyweight competition at the meet; among her
2424 other accolades, she has been named to the THSWPA All-Academic
2525 Elite Team; and
2626 WHEREAS, Winning a state championship represents the
2727 culmination of countless hours of hard work and an unwavering
2828 commitment to excellence, and Jae Jae Phillips may indeed reflect
2929 with pride on this outstanding accomplishment; now, therefore, be
3030 it
3131 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
3232 Legislature hereby congratulate Jaelyn Jade Phillips on winning the
3333 state title in the 165-pound weight class at the 2025 THSWPA 3A
3434 Division 1 State Championship and extend to her sincere best wishes
3535 for continued success; and, be it further
3636 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3737 prepared for Ms. Phillips as an expression of high regard by the
3838 Texas House of Representatives.
