77 R E S O L U T I O N
88 WHEREAS, The Salado High School boys' soccer team closed out
99 an unforgettable year by winning the 2025 University
1010 Interscholastic League 4A Division 1 state championship; and
1111 WHEREAS, Following an impressive showing during the regular
1212 season, the Eagles continued to excel in the playoffs, besting
1313 China Spring, Houston Fort Bend Willowridge, and Navasota High
1414 Schools to reach the regional final; next posting a 2-1 defeat over
1515 Lumberton High School, Salado earned its inaugural trip to the
1616 state tournament; and
1717 WHEREAS, After advancing to the title game due to a forfeit,
1818 Salado battled Fort Worth Castleberry High School for the state
1919 crown on April 10 at Birkelbach Field in Georgetown; finding
2020 themselves trailing at halftime and then late in the final period,
2121 the Eagles demonstrated tremendous resolve, netting a clutch goal
2222 to tie the game at 2-2 and force overtime; the Eagles struck quickly
2323 in the extra period, knocking in the go-ahead goal and sealing the
2424 outcome on the strength of their defense; triumphing by the final
2525 score of 3-2, Salado claimed the first state championship in
2626 program history; and
2727 WHEREAS, Salado was led by Luke Anderson, the championship
2828 game Most Valuable Player who was joined by Hughston Taggart, Caine
2929 Cruddas, Devonte Foster, and Luke Munson on the All-Tournament
3030 Team; the Eagles also received valuable contributions during their
3131 campaign from the other members of the roster: Cole Cooley, Gabriel
3232 Johnson, Davis Kasper, Brody Delukie, Gabriel Merriman, Kyler
3333 Stock, Alejandro Delima, Brayden Dildine, Daniel Anderson, Otto
3434 Sitz, Damonte Foster, Johnny Anderson, Cole Foster, Owen Stone,
3535 Ryley White, Oscar Arango, Peyton Bivens, Valente Hernandez,
3636 Lincoln Hossfeld, and Richard McCoin; these talented
3737 student-athletes were ably directed by head coach Jared Cruddas and
3838 assistant coaches Scott Bates, Annie Ewton, and Matthew
3939 Figlestahler; and
4040 WHEREAS, Winning a state championship represents the
4141 culmination of countless hours of hard work and an unwavering
4242 commitment to excellence, and the Salado Eagles will treasure the
4343 memory of this accomplishment for the rest of their lives; now,
4444 therefore, be it
4545 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
4646 Legislature hereby congratulate the Salado High School boys' soccer
4747 team on winning the 2025 UIL 4A Division 1 state championship and
4848 extend to the players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for
4949 continued success; and, be it further
5050 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
5151 prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
5252 House of Representatives.
