| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The passing of Jeffery Martinez on March 2, 2025, at |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | the age of 59, brought an immeasurable loss to his family and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | friends; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Born on January 30, 1966, "Julian" Martinez was the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | son of Ruben Martinez, who preceded him in death, and Joann and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Larry Bennett; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Martinez was known for his quick wit and many |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | humorous catch phrases; when he first met his future wife, the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | former Rose Salas, she responded to his teasing with a snappy |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | retort, and he was smitten; he invited her to dance, and their |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | romance led to a marriage that would span more than 32 years; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Blessed with a son, Hunter, Mr. Martinez doted on |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | him unreservedly and attended every play and school event he was |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | involved in; he taught him to meet challenges head on, and he |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | counseled him against the dubious undertakings of his own youth; |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | over the years, Mr. Martinez also provided stalwart support to his |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | wife in her many efforts in behalf of the community; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Loyal and deeply kind, Mr. Martinez was always ready |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | to lend a helping hand, and he served as a caregiver for both his |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | father-in-law and his mother-in-law at the end of their lives; in |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | his free time, he was an avid fisherman, although he almost always |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | released his catch; he delighted in relaxing with his loved ones at |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | the beach and hunting on his parents' ranch each dove and deer |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | season; and |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Julian Martinez enjoyed a life that was rich in the |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | intangibles that matter most, and although he is greatly missed by |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | those he left behind, they will continue to find inspiration in his |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | devotion to his family and his faith; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Jeffery "Julian" |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | Martinez and that sincere sympathy be extended to the members of his |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | family: to his wife, Rose Salas Martinez; to his son, Julian Hunter |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | Salas Martinez; to his in-laws, Antonio and Bea Reyes, Becky and |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | John Tobias, Joseph and Maria Reyes, and Adele and Jim Werderman; |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | and to his many other relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

| 44 | 44 | | prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|---|
| 45 | 45 | | Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Julian |
