77 R E S O L U T I O N
88 WHEREAS, Students from several member institutions of The
99 Texas A&M University System are providing valuable support to the
1010 89th Texas Legislature while gaining experience in public service
1111 as members of the Agricultural and Natural Resources Policy
1212 Internship Program, the Public Policy Internship Program, the Bush
1313 School of Government and Public Service Capstone Scholars Program,
1414 the School of Law Residency Externship Program in Public Policy,
1515 and the Tarleton State University internship program; and
1616 WHEREAS, For over three decades, the Agricultural and Natural
1717 Resources Policy Internship Program has sent students from the
1818 Texas A&M University College of Agriculture & Life Sciences to
1919 Austin, Washington, D.C., and abroad to work on a wide array of
2020 issues; their strong background and interest in agriculture and
2121 natural resources allow them to offer specialized knowledge to
2222 offices; more than 1,200 students have participated in this program
2323 to date; the current ANRP interns are Audrey Burchett, Caitlin
2424 Castro, Jose "Diego" Chapa, Braden Clampit, Kaitlyn Cloud, Elaina
2525 Estremo, Aiden Hunter, and Greyson Philippovic; and
2626 WHEREAS, The Texas A&M University Public Policy Internship
2727 Program, established in 1999, invites students across all Texas A&M
2828 University degree programs to create an interdisciplinary
2929 environment for comprehensive academic training, research, and
3030 policy programming; interns in the nation's capital, in Austin, and
3131 abroad serve in a variety of settings that align with their
3232 professional goals; approximately 1,300 students have participated
3333 in this program to date; the current PPIP interns are Mazbeen Ali,
3434 Jonathan Amason, Campbell Beresford, Dastan Bigarli, Jareli
3535 Cavazos, Gavin Dealy, Stephanie DeCamp, Alexander Elsworth, Roger
3636 Gonzalez, Annie Mosis, Sarah Olmos, Georgia Page, Haylee Plumley,
3737 Natalie Portillo Franco, Snigdha Ramineni, Hayden Richards,
3838 Natasha Simmons, David Taravella, Maria Tellez, Owen Thompson,
3939 Sebastian Valdivia, Ezra Villarreal, Caleb White, and Pierce
4040 Whitley, along with Kenneth Arreazola from Texas A&M International
4141 University; and
4242 WHEREAS, Since the 82nd Session, the Bush School of
4343 Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University has sent a
4444 select group of graduate students, known as Capstone Scholars, to
4545 work in the legislature; these students, most of whom intend to work
4646 in government positions when they graduate, bring knowledge,
4747 skills, and motivation to their respective offices; their
4848 legislative experiences add greatly to their professional
4949 development and benefit the State of Texas in myriad ways; the
5050 current Bush School Capstone interns are Nick Cooper, Katie Irwin,
5151 Valerie McKeever, Julia Patterson, Sydney Ramon, Daniel Robinson,
5252 Kirsten Stewart, and Erin Taravella; and
5353 WHEREAS, The Texas A&M School of Law Residency Externship
5454 Program in Public Policy, first offered in 2016, brings law
5555 students to Washington, D.C., and to Austin to serve in a variety of
5656 legislative, executive, and advocacy settings that align with their
5757 professional goals; students are selected for their academic
5858 achievement, demonstrated interest in public service, and
5959 completion of studies specific to legislation, regulation, and
6060 substantive policy law; this preparation allows them to offer
6161 advanced skills and knowledge to the policymakers and advocates
6262 with whom they work; current Texas A&M Law students are Payton
6363 Ramsey and Matthew McGrenera; and
6464 WHEREAS, Since 2010, Tarleton State University has sent
6565 numerous interns to Austin and Washington, D.C., where they work on
6666 an array of issues; their strong background and interest in public
6767 policy, history, education, criminal justice, health care, and
6868 agriculture, among other topics, equip them to offer specialized
6969 knowledge to legislators; current Tarleton interns are Ashton
7070 Maitlen, Lacy Malone, Madeleine Odom, Kaydence Vertner, and
7171 Nicholla Webb; and
7272 WHEREAS, Through the years, these programs have helped
7373 exceptional students deepen their understanding of legislative
7474 processes and general government functionality while developing
7575 important professional skills and critical peer networks, and past
7676 program participants have gone on to make vital contributions and
7777 assume leadership roles in a variety of arenas; the outstanding
7878 young people who are giving of their time and talents, with the
7979 utmost integrity, throughout this legislative session can indeed
8080 take pride in their achievements and selfless service to the Lone
8181 Star State; now, therefore, be it
8282 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
8383 Legislature hereby recognize the 2025 Texas A&M University System
8484 policy interns and commend the current participants for their
8585 diligence and commitment to excellence; and, be it further
8686 RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
8787 for the students as an expression of high regard by the Texas House
8888 of Representatives.
