WHEREAS, The American Warrior Association has made a profound
impact in the lives of military personnel, veterans, first
responders, and their families through its efforts to address the
 often-overlooked wounds of service; and
WHEREAS, The Texas-based organization has launched a
historic public-private partnership called "R3: Respond. Restore.
Resolve." that is aimed at alleviating the psychological,
emotional, and spiritual harm associated with moral injury, which
has been defined as the emotional distress experienced by first
responders, military service members, and veterans when actions
conflict with their moral beliefs; the R3 Program offers training,
access to non-clinical preventative care resources, and culturally
competent counseling, all with the goal of eliminating potential
stigma and increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of
 departmental support services; and
WHEREAS, Through this endeavor, AWA is helping to improve
overall performance and morale among our state's first responder
and veteran workforce; these efforts further benefit our
communities by enhancing first responders' mental resilience and
ability to de-escalate situations and by strengthening their
relations with the citizens they serve; and
WHEREAS, The vital work being undertaken by AWA takes on
added significance in connection with Moral Injury Awareness Day on
May 14, 2025, an observance that is shedding light on the internal
burdens that may arise when one's service experiences conflict with
personal values or professional expectations; and
WHEREAS, Through the R3 Program, the American Warrior
Association is helping to tackle an issue that exacts a heavy toll
on veterans and first responders while further promoting a culture
of strength, readiness, and mutual support among the heroes in our
communities who need a helping hand; now, therefore, be it
