10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, The son of Ernesto and Otila Villarreal, Andrew |

11 | 12 | | Villarreal was born in San Antonio on July 4, 1930; answering his |

12 | 13 | | nation's call to duty, he served in the United States Air Force |
---|
13 | 14 | | during the Korean War; and |
---|
14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, On August 20, 1953, Mr. Villarreal exchanged vows |
---|
15 | 16 | | with Josefina Torres, and the couple went on to share a rewarding |
---|
16 | 17 | | marriage until her passing; he took great pride in their 4 children, |
---|
17 | 18 | | Patricia, Andrew, Rene, and David, and over the years, he had the |
---|
18 | 19 | | pleasure of seeing their family grow to include 6 grandchildren and |
---|
19 | 20 | | 15 great-grandchildren; and |
---|
20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, First called to the ministry in 1956, Mr. Villarreal |

21 | 22 | | attended Southern Christian College, Colegio Biblico, Howard Payne |
---|
22 | 23 | | University, and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary; over |
---|
23 | 24 | | the course of nearly four decades, he served as the pastor of |
---|
24 | 25 | | churches at communities across Texas, including in Coleman, |
---|
25 | 26 | | Weslaco, and McAllen, and he retired in 1996, following nearly 20 |
---|
26 | 27 | | years of service with congregations in San Antonio; he founded the |
---|
27 | 28 | | Hispanic Senior Adult Camp in 1993, and he later expanded its |
---|
28 | 29 | | mission by establishing Campamento Maranatha Para Adultos Mayores |
---|
29 | 30 | | de Tejas; he also held leadership roles in many other ministerial |
---|
30 | 31 | | organizations, such as the Asociación Bautista de Rio Grande |

31 | 32 | | Valley, the Asociación Bautista Mexicana de San Antonio, Inc., and |

32 | 33 | | the Reunión de Pastores Mayores de San Antonio; and |

33 | 34 | | WHEREAS, Setting an inspiring example of faith in action, |

34 | 35 | | Andrew Villarreal enriched the lives of countless people through |

35 | 36 | | his spiritual leadership, and he leaves behind a legacy that will |

36 | 37 | | long be treasured by all those who held him dear; now, therefore, be |
