8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Imari Reynolds has ably served her fellow Texans as |

9 | 9 | | a legislative aide in the office of State Representative Gene Wu |
---|
10 | 10 | | during the 89th Legislative Session; and |
---|
11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Since joining the staff, Ms. Reynolds has shared her |
---|
12 | 12 | | valuable knowledge with the House Criminal Jurisprudence Committee |
---|
13 | 13 | | and earned the appreciation of her colleagues for her commitment, |
---|
14 | 14 | | fierce advocacy, and sense of humor; in addition to gaining |
---|
15 | 15 | | valuable experience in the field of public service, she has learned |
---|
16 | 16 | | more about the legislative process and the issues facing citizens |
---|
17 | 17 | | of the Lone Star State; and |
---|
18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Reynolds plans to graduate in May 2026 from the |
---|
19 | 19 | | Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law, where |
---|
20 | 20 | | she is vice president of the Black Law Students Association and |
---|
21 | 21 | | president of the Civil Rights Law Society; she is an alumna of the |
---|
22 | 22 | | University of California, Santa Cruz and has studied at the |
---|
23 | 23 | | University of the West Indies at Cave Hill, Barbados, the |
---|
24 | 24 | | University of Ghana, and the University of the Western Cape; while |
---|
25 | 25 | | attending UCSC, she was recognized as the 2017 Cowell College |
---|
26 | 26 | | Student Leader of the Year and was president of the Black Student |
---|
27 | 27 | | Union and the university's chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority; |
---|
28 | 28 | | over the years, she has served as a client advocate for the Harris |
---|
29 | 29 | | County Public Defender's Office, special education teacher at |
---|
30 | 30 | | Raleigh-Egypt High School as part of Teach for America, chair of |
---|
31 | 31 | | Destination Higher Education, and immigration and abolition pillar |
---|
32 | 32 | | lead at Social Justice Solutions; and |
---|
33 | 33 | | WHEREAS, Imari Reynolds has performed her duties as a |
---|
34 | 34 | | legislative aide with skill and dedication, and she is indeed |
---|
35 | 35 | | deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now, therefore, |
---|

37 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |

38 | 38 | | Legislature hereby commend Imari Reynolds for her service as a |
