8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Stephen F. Austin State University is holding an |

9 | 9 | | investiture ceremony for its 11th president, Dr. Neal Weaver, on |
---|
10 | 10 | | May 1, 2025; and |
---|
11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Weaver was selected for this distinguished |
---|
12 | 12 | | position by The University of Texas System Board of Regents in March |
---|
13 | 13 | | 2024, following a rigorous search process and a unanimous vote to |
---|
14 | 14 | | appoint him; he began his tenure as president on May 13, 2024; and |
---|
15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, During the first year of his presidency, Dr. Weaver |
---|
16 | 16 | | has ably guided Stephen F. Austin State University in cultivating a |
---|
17 | 17 | | supportive environment for its students, faculty, and staff; he is |
---|
18 | 18 | | certain to continue to lead the institution to new heights as the |
---|
19 | 19 | | latest addition to The University of Texas System, with a clear |
---|
20 | 20 | | focus on furthering the university's academic mission, fostering |
---|
21 | 21 | | innovation, and strengthening its ties to the East Texas community; |
---|
22 | 22 | | and |
---|
23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Weaver has brought to his position a wealth of |
---|
24 | 24 | | experience in higher education leadership; he previously served as |
---|
25 | 25 | | president of Georgia Southwestern State University and as vice |
---|
26 | 26 | | president for university advancement and innovation at Nicholls |
---|
27 | 27 | | State University, and he held various prominent roles at West Texas |
---|
28 | 28 | | A&M University and Northeastern State University; and |
---|
29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Dr. Weaver has demonstrated a |
---|
30 | 30 | | commitment to student success, institutional growth, and academic |
---|
31 | 31 | | excellence; he has driven significant progress in enrollment, |
---|
32 | 32 | | retention, and fundraising at every institution he has served; and |
---|
33 | 33 | | WHEREAS, Highly educated, Dr. Weaver holds a bachelor's |
---|
34 | 34 | | degree from Oklahoma Panhandle State University, a master of |
---|
35 | 35 | | business administration degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State |
---|
36 | 36 | | University, and a doctor of philosophy degree in organizational |
---|
37 | 37 | | leadership from the University of Oklahoma; and |
---|
38 | 38 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Neal Weaver has proven himself to be an |
---|
39 | 39 | | accomplished leader in higher education and an effective advocate |
---|
40 | 40 | | for students, and the Stephen F. Austin State University community |
---|
41 | 41 | | is indeed fortunate to have him at the helm of the institution; now, |

42 | 42 | | therefore, be it |

43 | 43 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |

44 | 44 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Neal Weaver on his investiture |

45 | 45 | | as president of Stephen F. Austin State University and extend to him |

46 | 46 | | sincere best wishes for continued success with his important work; |
