77 R E S O L U T I O N
88 WHEREAS, Saul Mendoza has ably served his fellow Texans as
99 chief of staff in the office of State Representative Terri Leo
1010 Wilson during the 89th Legislature; and
1111 WHEREAS, Since joining Representative Leo Wilson's staff,
1212 Mr. Mendoza has handled a wide variety of challenging tasks and
1313 assisted with the member's legislative agenda and her service to
1414 constituents in Chambers and Galveston Counties; he joined the
1515 staff after working for Representative James White, beginning as an
1616 intern and aide during the 83rd Legislature and going on to become
1717 legislative and communications director for the 84th Legislature;
1818 during the 85th Legislature, he was named Representative White's
1919 chief of staff, and over the course of his tenure, he assisted with
2020 a number of bills focused on criminal justice and law enforcement
2121 reforms; and
2222 WHEREAS, Born in Ucareo, Michoacán, Mexico, Mr. Mendoza grew
2323 up in Lufkin and studied Spanish literature at The University of
2424 Texas at Austin; by the time he graduated in 2012, he had already
2525 worked on the campaigns of Representative White and U.S. Senator
2626 Ted Cruz and had served in the office of Representative Jim
2727 Landtroop during the 82nd Legislature; he has also contributed his
2828 time and energy to FreedomWorks and to the campaigns of State
2929 Senator Konni Burton and Governor Greg Abbott; in 2014, he was proud
3030 to become a naturalized citizen of the United States, and he was
3131 named Best Legislative Director by Capitol Crowd in 2015; and
3232 WHEREAS, Saul Mendoza has performed his duties as chief of
3333 staff with skill and dedication, and he is indeed deserving of
3434 special recognition for his fine work; now, therefore, be it
3535 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
3636 Legislature hereby commend Saul Mendoza for his service as chief of
3737 staff for State Representative Terri Leo Wilson and extend to him
3838 sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
3939 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4040 prepared for Mr. Mendoza as an expression of high regard by the
4141 Texas House of Representatives.
