77 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
88 AN ACT
99 relating to creating a school uniform allotment under the
1010 Foundation School Program.
1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 48, Education Code, is
1313 amended by adding Section 48.121 to read as follows:
1414 Sec. 48.121. SCHOOL UNIFORM ALLOTMENT. (a) Except as
1515 provided by Subsection (c), for each student in average daily
1616 attendance who attends a school at which school uniforms are
1717 required, a school district is entitled to an annual allotment of
1818 $100.
1919 (b) Money allocated under this section may be used only to
2020 provide uniforms to each student who is required to wear a uniform.
2121 (c) In any school year in which the amount of money
2222 appropriated for purposes of this section is less than the amount of
2323 money to which school districts are entitled, the commissioner:
2424 (1) may provide an allotment to a district under
2525 Subsection (a) only if there is sufficient money to provide the
2626 district the full amount to which the district is entitled under
2727 this section; and
2828 (2) shall prioritize districts that receive funding
2929 under Title I, Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (20
3030 U.S.C. Section 6301 et seq.).
3131 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
