11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Section 654.037, Government Code, is amended by | |
13 | 13 | adding Subsection (e) to read as follows: | |
14 | 14 | (e) The classification officer shall: | |
15 | 15 | (1) identify state agency positions for which the | |
16 | 16 | educational, experience, and training requirements could be | |
17 | 17 | reduced to increase the number of qualified applicants who could | |
18 | 18 | proficiently perform the positions; | |
19 | 19 | (2) reduce to the extent practicable the number of | |
20 | 20 | state agency positions requiring an employee to hold a bachelor's | |
21 | 21 | degree as a condition of employment; | |
22 | 22 | (3) evaluate ways to expand career advancement | |
23 | 23 | opportunities for state agency employees who do not hold a | |
24 | 24 | bachelor's degree; and | |
25 | 25 | (4) report the information gathered as required by | |
26 | 26 | this subsection to the governor's budget office and the Legislative | |
27 | 27 | Budget Board in the time required by Subsection (a)(2). | |
28 | 28 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
