| 11 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 12 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 503, Transportation Code, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | is amended by adding Section 503.0292 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Sec. 503.0292. FINGERPRINTING REQUIREMENTS FOR CERTAIN |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | DEALERS. (a) This section applies only to a person who is an |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | applicant for or holds a dealer general distinguishing number for |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | 10 or more locations. |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | (b) Notwithstanding any other law, the department may |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | require a person described by Subsection (a) who applies for an |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | original or renewal dealer general distinguishing number under |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Section 503.029 to submit to the department a complete set of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | fingerprints to obtain the original or renewal number only if the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | department requires, for each location for which the person applies |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | for a dealer general distinguishing number, a complete set of |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | fingerprints from not more than one manager or other bona fide |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | employee whose regular place of work is located within 100 miles of |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | that location. For purposes of this subsection, a complete set of |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | fingerprints from one manager or other bona fide employee satisfies |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | the fingerprint requirements for a person's application for a |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | dealer general distinguishing number for all locations from which |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | the person conducts business as a dealer that are located within 100 |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | miles of the location of the fingerprinted manager's or employee's |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | regular place of work. |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
