| 11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Section 135.02(c), Education Code, is amended to | |
| 13 | 13 | read as follows: | |
| 14 | 14 | (c) The board may accept or acquire by purchase in the name | |
| 15 | 15 | of the State of Texas land and facilities in any of the counties in | |
| 16 | 16 | which a campus or extension center is located. [The coordinating | |
| 17 | 17 | board must review and approve the acceptance or acquisition of any | |
| 18 | 18 | land and facilities if: | |
| 19 | 19 | [(1) the board of regents requests to place the land | |
| 20 | 20 | and facilities on its educational and general buildings and | |
| 21 | 21 | facilities inventory; and | |
| 22 | 22 | [(2) the combined value of the land and facilities is | |
| 23 | 23 | more than $300,000 at the time the board of regents requests the | |
| 24 | 24 | property to be added to the educational and general buildings and | |
| 25 | 25 | facilities inventory.] | |
| 26 | 26 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
| 27 | 27 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
| 28 | 28 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 29 | 29 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 30 | 30 | Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
