| 9 | 9 | | relating to the jurisdiction of the 2nd Multicounty Court at Law and |

| 10 | 10 | | the composition of the juvenile boards of Bee, Live Oak, and |

| 11 | 11 | | McMullen Counties. |

| 12 | 12 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 13 | 13 | | SECTION 1. Section 25.2704(a), Government Code, is amended |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | to read as follows: |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (a) In addition to the jurisdiction provided by Section |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | 25.0003 and other law, the 2nd Multicounty Court at Law has |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | concurrent jurisdiction with the district courts, including |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | [except] in civil cases in which the matter in controversy exceeds |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | the maximum amount provided by Section 25.0003(c)(1). |

| 20 | 20 | | SECTION 2. Section 152.0191(a), Human Resources Code, is |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | (a) The juvenile board of Bee County is composed of the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | county judge, [and] the district judges in Bee County, and the judge |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | of the 2nd Multicounty Court at Law. |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | SECTION 3. Section 152.1551(a), Human Resources Code, is |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | (a) The juvenile board of Live Oak County is composed of the |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | county judge, [and] the district judges in Live Oak County, and the |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | judge of the 2nd Multicounty Court at Law. |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | SECTION 4. Section 152.1621(a), Human Resources Code, is |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | (a) The juvenile board of McMullen County is composed of the |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | county judge, [and] the district judges in McMullen County, and the |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | judge of the 2nd Multicounty Court at Law. |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | SECTION 5. Section 25.2704(a), Government Code, as amended |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | by this Act, applies only to a case filed or proceeding commenced on |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | or after the effective date of this Act. A case filed or proceeding |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | commenced before that date is governed by the law in effect on the |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | date the case was filed or the proceeding was commenced, and the |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | former law is continued in effect for that purpose. |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | SECTION 6. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 44 | 44 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 45 | 45 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
