88 AN ACT
99 relating to the jurisdiction of the 2nd Multicounty Court at Law and
1010 the composition of the juvenile boards of Bee, Live Oak, and
1111 McMullen Counties.
1212 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1313 SECTION 1. Section 25.2704(a), Government Code, is amended
1414 to read as follows:
1515 (a) In addition to the jurisdiction provided by Section
1616 25.0003 and other law, the 2nd Multicounty Court at Law has
1717 concurrent jurisdiction with the district courts, including
1818 [except] in civil cases in which the matter in controversy exceeds
1919 the maximum amount provided by Section 25.0003(c)(1).
2020 SECTION 2. Section 152.0191(a), Human Resources Code, is
2121 amended to read as follows:
2222 (a) The juvenile board of Bee County is composed of the
2323 county judge, [and] the district judges in Bee County, and the judge
2424 of the 2nd Multicounty Court at Law.
2525 SECTION 3. Section 152.1551(a), Human Resources Code, is
2626 amended to read as follows:
2727 (a) The juvenile board of Live Oak County is composed of the
2828 county judge, [and] the district judges in Live Oak County, and the
2929 judge of the 2nd Multicounty Court at Law.
3030 SECTION 4. Section 152.1621(a), Human Resources Code, is
3131 amended to read as follows:
3232 (a) The juvenile board of McMullen County is composed of the
3333 county judge, [and] the district judges in McMullen County, and the
3434 judge of the 2nd Multicounty Court at Law.
3535 SECTION 5. Section 25.2704(a), Government Code, as amended
3636 by this Act, applies only to a case filed or proceeding commenced on
3737 or after the effective date of this Act. A case filed or proceeding
3838 commenced before that date is governed by the law in effect on the
3939 date the case was filed or the proceeding was commenced, and the
4040 former law is continued in effect for that purpose.
4141 SECTION 6. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
4242 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
4343 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
4444 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
4545 Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
