77 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
88 AN ACT
99 relating to the continuation of health care provider participation
1010 programs in certain counties.
1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Section 300.0155, Health and Safety Code, is
1313 amended to read as follows:
1414 Sec. 300.0155. EXPIRATION OF AUTHORITY. (a) Except as
1515 provided by Subsection (b), the [The] authority of a local
1616 government to administer and operate a program under this chapter
1717 expires on September 1 following the second anniversary of the date
1818 the governing body of the local government adopted the order or
1919 ordinance authorizing the local government to participate in the
2020 program as provided by Section 300.0004.
2121 (b) The authority of a local government to which this
2222 subsection applies to administer and operate a program under this
2323 chapter expires on September 1, 2030. This subsection applies only
2424 to a county:
2525 (1) with a population of one million or more;
2626 (2) in which all or part of a municipality with a
2727 population of one million or more is located; and
2828 (3) that is located adjacent to a county with a
2929 population of 2.5 million or more.
3030 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
3131 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
3232 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3333 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3434 Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
