| 10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 33, Health and Safety | |
| 12 | 12 | Code, is amended by adding Section 33.0022 to read as follows: | |
| 13 | 13 | Sec. 33.0022. SEX CHROMOSOME STRUCTURE TEST. | |
| 14 | 14 | Notwithstanding any other provision of this chapter, the department | |
| 15 | 15 | shall include a sex chromosome structure test in the detection and | |
| 16 | 16 | treatment program established under this chapter, in the screening | |
| 17 | 17 | for heritable diseases conducted under Subchapter B, and in the | |
| 18 | 18 | newborn screening services provided under Subchapter C. | |
| 19 | 19 | SECTION 2. As soon as practicable after the effective date | |
| 20 | 20 | of this Act, the Department of State Health Services shall | |
| 21 | 21 | implement Section 33.0022, Health and Safety Code, as added by this | |
| 22 | 22 | Act. | |
| 23 | 23 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
| 24 | 24 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
| 25 | 25 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 26 | 26 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 27 | 27 | Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
