9 | 9 | relating to compensatory time and vacation leave accrued by an | |
10 | 10 | employee of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. | |
11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Section 659.015(k), Government Code, is amended | |
13 | 13 | to read as follows: | |
14 | 14 | (k) Compensatory time off to which an employee of the Texas | |
15 | 15 | Department of Criminal Justice is entitled under Subsection (f): | |
16 | 16 | (1) must be taken during the 24-month period following | |
17 | 17 | the end of the workweek in which the compensatory time was accrued; | |
18 | 18 | and | |
19 | 19 | (2) if not taken during the period described by | |
20 | 20 | Subdivision (1), shall be credited to the employee's accumulated | |
21 | 21 | vacation leave for purposes of Chapter 661 [or it lapses]. | |
22 | 22 | SECTION 2. Section 661.152(b), Government Code, is amended | |
23 | 23 | to read as follows: | |
24 | 24 | (b) The amount of vacation accrues in accordance with this | |
25 | 25 | subchapter and Section 659.015(k) and may be taken in accordance | |
26 | 26 | with this subchapter. | |
27 | 27 | SECTION 3. The changes in law made by this Act apply to | |
28 | 28 | compensatory time accrued by an employee of the Texas Department of | |
29 | 29 | Criminal Justice before, on, or after the effective date of this | |
30 | 30 | Act. | |
31 | 31 | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
