77 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
88 AN ACT
99 relating to compensatory time and vacation leave accrued by an
1010 employee of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Section 659.015(k), Government Code, is amended
1313 to read as follows:
1414 (k) Compensatory time off to which an employee of the Texas
1515 Department of Criminal Justice is entitled under Subsection (f):
1616 (1) must be taken during the 24-month period following
1717 the end of the workweek in which the compensatory time was accrued;
1818 and
1919 (2) if not taken during the period described by
2020 Subdivision (1), shall be credited to the employee's accumulated
2121 vacation leave for purposes of Chapter 661 [or it lapses].
2222 SECTION 2. Section 661.152(b), Government Code, is amended
2323 to read as follows:
2424 (b) The amount of vacation accrues in accordance with this
2525 subchapter and Section 659.015(k) and may be taken in accordance
2626 with this subchapter.
2727 SECTION 3. The changes in law made by this Act apply to
2828 compensatory time accrued by an employee of the Texas Department of
2929 Criminal Justice before, on, or after the effective date of this
3030 Act.
3131 SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
