10 | 15 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
11 | 16 | SECTION 1. Section 32.24(b), Penal Code, is amended to read | |
12 | 17 | as follows: | |
13 | 18 | (b) An offense under this section is a state jail felony | |
14 | 19 | [Class A misdemeanor]. | |
15 | 20 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only | |
16 | 21 | to an offense committed on or after the effective date of this Act. | |
17 | 22 | An offense committed before the effective date of this Act is | |
18 | 23 | governed by the law in effect on the date the offense is committed, | |
19 | 24 | and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose. For | |
20 | 25 | purposes of this section, an offense was committed before the | |
21 | 26 | effective date of this Act if any element of the offense occurred | |
22 | 27 | before that date. | |
23 | 28 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. | |
