11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 43, Election Code, is | |
13 | 13 | amended by adding Section 43.008 to read as follows: | |
14 | 14 | Sec. 43.008. CAMPUS POLLING PLACE. (a) In this section, | |
15 | 15 | "institution of higher education" has the meaning assigned by | |
16 | 16 | Section 61.003, Education Code. | |
17 | 17 | (b) The commissioners court of a county shall designate as a | |
18 | 18 | polling place a location on the main campus of an institution of | |
19 | 19 | higher education located within the county if at least 5,000 | |
20 | 20 | students are enrolled in the institution. | |
21 | 21 | (c) The commissioners court of a county shall designate two | |
22 | 22 | polling places on the main campus of an institution of higher | |
23 | 23 | education if at least 10,000 students are enrolled in the | |
24 | 24 | institution, and shall designate one additional polling place for | |
25 | 25 | every additional 10,000 students enrolled in the institution. | |
26 | 26 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
