| 8 | 8 | | relating to the frequency of county bail bond board meetings. |

| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 1704.055, Occupations Code, is amended |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | by amending Subsection (b) and adding Subsection (d) to read as |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | follows: |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | (b) Except as provided by Subsections Subsection (c) and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | (d), a board shall meet: |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (1) at least once a month; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | (2) at other times at the call of the presiding |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | officer. |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | (d) A board in a county with a population of less than 1.3 |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | million and containing a municipality with a population of 750,000 |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | or more shall meet: |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | (1) at least six times each year during the months of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | January, March, May, July, September, and November at the call of |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | the presiding officer; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | (2) at other times at the call of the presiding |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | officer. |

| 26 | 26 | | SECTION 2. Section 1704.162(h), Occupations Code, is |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | amended in read as follows: |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | (h) Notwithstanding the expiration date of a license issued |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | under this chapter, if a board to which Section 1704.055(c) or (d) |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | applies tables a license holder's application for renewal or |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | otherwise does not take action to approve or deny the application, |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | the applicant's current license continues in effect until the next |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | meeting of the board. |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | SECTION 3. Section 1704.162(h), Occupations Code, as |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | amended by this Act, applies only to an application for renewal of a |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | license filed with a county bail bond board on or after the |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | effective date of this Act. An application filed before that date is |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | governed by the law in effect at the time the application was filed, |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose. |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect July 1, 2025, if it |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | house, as provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | If this Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate |
|---|
| 44 | 44 | | effect, this Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
