10 | 10 | | benefits and services poster in the workplace. |

11 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

12 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Subtitle B, Title 4, Labor Code, is amended by |
---|
13 | 13 | | adding Chapter 320 to read as follows: |
---|
14 | 14 | | CHAPTER 320. INFORMATION ABOUT BENEFITS AND SERVICES FOR VETERANS |
---|
15 | 15 | | Sec. 320.001. VETERANS BENEFITS AND SERVICES POSTER. (a) |
---|
16 | 16 | | In this section, "employer" means a person who employs at least 50 |
---|
17 | 17 | | employees. |
---|
18 | 18 | | (b) The commission shall, in consultation with the Texas |
---|
19 | 19 | | Veterans Commission, create and distribute to each employer in this |
---|
20 | 20 | | state a veterans benefits and services poster containing |
---|
21 | 21 | | information relating to: |
---|
22 | 22 | | (1) how an employee may: |
---|
23 | 23 | | (A) apply for unemployment compensation benefits |
---|
24 | 24 | | under Subtitle A and unemployment compensation benefits that may be |
---|
25 | 25 | | offered under a program administered by an agency of the federal |
---|
26 | 26 | | government; |
---|
27 | 27 | | (B) contact the Texas Veterans Commission, |
---|
28 | 28 | | including how an employee may access the Internet website |
---|
29 | 29 | | maintained by the Texas Veterans Commission and the veterans crisis |
---|
30 | 30 | | hotline established by the United States Department of Veterans |
---|
31 | 31 | | Affairs under 38 U.S.C. Section 1720F; |
---|
32 | 32 | | (C) exercise any tax benefits or preferences |
---|
33 | 33 | | offered to veterans under the Tax Code or Internal Revenue Code of |
---|
34 | 34 | | 1986; and |
---|
35 | 35 | | (D) obtain a driver's license or personal |
---|
36 | 36 | | identification card issued by the Department of Public Safety; and |
---|
37 | 37 | | (2) services that may be available to veterans in this |
---|
38 | 38 | | state, including: |
---|
39 | 39 | | (A) education, workforce placement, and training |
---|
40 | 40 | | programs; |
---|
41 | 41 | | (B) legal assistance; and |
---|
42 | 42 | | (C) substance abuse and mental health treatment. |
---|
43 | 43 | | (c) Each employer shall display the veterans benefits and |
---|
44 | 44 | | services poster distributed by the commission under this section in |
---|
45 | 45 | | a conspicuous place in the employer's place of business that is |
---|
46 | 46 | | accessible to all employees. |
---|
47 | 47 | | SECTION 2. Not later than December 1, 2025, the Texas |
---|
48 | 48 | | Workforce Commission shall, in consultation with the Texas Veterans |
---|
49 | 49 | | Commission, create and distribute the veterans benefits and |
---|
50 | 50 | | services poster as required by Section 320.001, Labor Code, as |
---|
51 | 51 | | added by this Act. |
---|
52 | 52 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
