| 11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Sections 453.301(a-1) and (b), Occupations Code, | |
| 13 | 13 | are amended to read as follows: | |
| 14 | 14 | (a-1) A [Except as provided by Subsection (a-2), a] physical | |
| 15 | 15 | therapist may treat a patient under Subsection (a) for not more than | |
| 16 | 16 | 20 [10] consecutive business days. | |
| 17 | 17 | (b) The physical therapist must obtain a referral from a | |
| 18 | 18 | referring practitioner before the physical therapist may continue | |
| 19 | 19 | treatment that exceeds treatment authorized under Subsection (a-1) | |
| 20 | 20 | [or (a-2), as applicable]. | |
| 21 | 21 | SECTION 2. Section 453.301(a-2), Occupations Code, is | |
| 22 | 22 | repealed. | |
| 23 | 23 | SECTION 3. Not later than December 1, 2025, the Texas Board | |
| 24 | 24 | of Physical Therapy Examiners shall adopt rules necessary to | |
| 25 | 25 | implement Section 453.301, Occupations Code, as amended by this | |
| 26 | 26 | Act. | |
| 27 | 27 | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
