77 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
88 AN ACT
99 relating to disclosure under the public information law of certain
1010 contact information of a notary public that is maintained by the
1111 secretary of state.
1212 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1313 SECTION 1. Section 552.11765, Government Code, is amended
1414 by amending Subsection (b) and adding Subsection (c-1) to read as
1515 follows:
1616 (b) Except as provided by Subsections (c), (c-1), and (d),
1717 information maintained by a governmental body described by Section
1818 552.003(1)(A)(i) is confidential and excepted from the
1919 requirements of Section 552.021 if the information:
2020 (1) is a license application; or
2121 (2) relates to the home address, home telephone
2222 number, electronic mail address, social security number, date of
2323 birth, driver's license number, state identification number,
2424 passport number, emergency contact information, or payment
2525 information of:
2626 (A) an applicant for a license issued by the
2727 governmental body;
2828 (B) an individual who holds a license issued by
2929 the governmental body; or
3030 (C) an individual who previously held a license
3131 issued by the governmental body.
3232 (c-1) Subsection (b) does not prohibit the secretary of
3333 state from disclosing the home address, home telephone number, or
3434 electronic mail address of a notary public appointed under
3535 Subchapter A, Chapter 406.
3636 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
3737 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
3838 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3939 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
4040 Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
