77 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
88 AN ACT
99 relating to the authority of certain peace officers to arrest a
1010 person without a warrant while outside the officer's jurisdiction.
1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Article 14.03(g)(2), Code of Criminal Procedure,
1313 is amended to read as follows:
1414 (2) A peace officer described by Article 2A.001(3) or
1515 (14), who is licensed under Chapter 1701, Occupations Code, and is
1616 outside of the officer's jurisdiction may arrest without a warrant
1717 a person who commits any offense within the officer's presence or
1818 view, except that an officer described in this subdivision who is
1919 outside of that officer's jurisdiction may arrest a person for a
2020 violation of Subtitle C, Title 7, Transportation Code, only if the
2121 offense is committed in the county or counties in which the
2222 municipality or district employing the peace officer is located.
2323 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
