77 AN ACT
88 relating to designating May 24 as Victims of the Uvalde Shooting
99 Day.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 662, Government Code, is
1212 amended by adding Section 662.088 to read as follows:
1313 Sec. 662.088. VICTIMS OF THE UVALDE SHOOTING DAY. (a) May
1414 24 is Victims of the Uvalde Shooting Day in honor of the children
1515 and teachers who were killed in Uvalde, Texas, on May 24, 2022.
1616 (b) Victims of the Uvalde Shooting Day is in memory of the
1717 following 21 victims: Makenna Lee Elrod, Layla Marie Salazar,
1818 Maranda Gail Mathis, Nevaeh Alyssa Bravo, Jose Manuel Flores Jr.,
1919 Xavier James Lopez, Tess Marie Mata, Rojelio Fernandez Torres,
2020 Eliahna "Ellie" Amyah Garcia, Eliahna Cruz Torres, Annabell
2121 Guadalupe Rodriguez, Jacklyn Jaylen Cazares, Uziyah Sergio Garcia,
2222 Jayce Carmelo Luevanos, Maite Yuleana Rodriguez, Jailah Nicole
2323 Silguero, Irma Linda Garcia, Eva Mireles, Amerie Jo Garza,
2424 Alexandria "Lexi" Aniyah Rubio, and Alithia Haven Ramirez.
2525 (c) Victims of the Uvalde Shooting Day shall be regularly
2626 observed by appropriate ceremonies and activities.
2727 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2828 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2929 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3030 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3131 Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
