| 9 | 9 | | relating to a study by the Texas Education Agency regarding |

| 10 | 10 | | standardizing building designs for public schools. |

| 11 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 12 | 12 | | SECTION 1. DEFINITION. In this Act, "agency" means the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Texas Education Agency. |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | SECTION 2. STUDY REGARDING STANDARDIZED BUILDING DESIGNS. |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (a) The agency shall conduct a study regarding standardizing |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | building designs for public schools. |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (b) The study conducted under this section must: |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | (1) determine the feasibility of establishing a set of |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | 10 standardized building designs that a school district must choose |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | from when building a new campus; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | (2) evaluate the effective cost savings to individual |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | school districts from providing standardized building designs for |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | school districts building a new campus. |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | SECTION 3. REPORT. Not later than September 1, 2026, the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | agency shall submit a report to the governor, the lieutenant |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | governor, the speaker of the house of representatives, and the |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | chair of each standing committee of the legislature with primary |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | jurisdiction over education that includes the results of the study |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | conducted under this Act. |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | SECTION 4. EXPIRATION. This Act expires September 1, 2027. |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | SECTION 5. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act takes effect September |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | 1, 2025. |
