| 11 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 12 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 62, Government Code, is |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | amended by adding Section 62.022 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Sec. 62.022. PERSONAL INFORMATION CONFIDENTIAL. (a) |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Except as provided by Subsection (b), personal information |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | collected by the court, a party, or a party's attorney during the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | jury selection process about a person who reports for jury duty is |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | confidential and may not be disclosed by the court, a party, a |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | party's attorney, or any court personnel. Information considered |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | confidential under this subsection includes: |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | (1) a person's: |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | (A) home address; |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | (B) telephone number; |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | (C) social security number; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | (D) driver's license number; |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | (2) information provided in the juror questionnaire |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | required by Section 62.0132; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | (3) any other personal information. |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | (b) The court may authorize the disclosure of information |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | described by Subsection (a) only on submission of an application to |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | the court showing good cause for the disclosure by: |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | (1) a party to the proceeding; or |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | (2) a person acting in the actual discharge of the |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | person's duties as a member of the news media. |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | to a person who reports for jury duty on or after the effective date |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | of this Act. |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
