| 15 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 16 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 225, Transportation Code, |
|---|
| 17 | 13 | | is amended by adding Section 225.243 to read as follows: |

| 18 | 14 | | Sec. 225.243. SP4 RODOLFO VALDEZ MEMORIAL HIGHWAY. (a) The |
|---|
| 19 | 15 | | portion of Business U.S. Highway 83-S in Hidalgo County between its |
|---|
| 20 | 16 | | western and eastern intersections with the U.S. Highway 83 relief |
|---|
| 21 | 17 | | route around La Joya is designated as the SP4 Rodolfo Valdez |
|---|
| 22 | 18 | | Memorial Highway. The designation is in addition to any other |
|---|
| 23 | 19 | | designation. |
|---|
| 24 | 20 | | (b) Subject to Section 225.021(c), the department shall: |
|---|
| 25 | 21 | | (1) design and construct markers indicating the |
|---|
| 26 | 22 | | designation as the SP4 Rodolfo Valdez Memorial Highway and any |
|---|
| 27 | 23 | | other appropriate information; and |
|---|
| 28 | 24 | | (2) erect a marker at each end of the highway and at |
|---|
| 29 | 25 | | appropriate intermediate sites along the highway. |
|---|
| 30 | 26 | | SECTION 2. It is the intention of the 89th Legislature, |
|---|
| 31 | 27 | | Regular Session, 2025, that the provisions added by this Act be |
|---|
| 32 | 28 | | renumbered to prevent multiple provisions with the same |
|---|
| 33 | 29 | | designation. |
|---|
| 34 | 30 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
